Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear Jack,
hope you are doing well. I received your letter and very happy for you that you get great score in schools.
I'm writing this letter to give you my personal suggestion about go to college or searching a job.
There are multiple reason that you should try to get a job rather than joining college. Firstly, it takes at least two to four years for graduation. which is not beneficial for you according to me. There are many online short courses available on the internet. You can save your time and money through it.
In my point of view, you're very clever and have more understanding of practical knowledge that's why I suggest you to find a job. As it'll helpful for you in the future as you will have more experience in compare to your classmates or friends.
Job post like researcher and development position will best option for you.
I'm looking forward to your reply and I can help you to find online job.
Best wishes,
Revanshi

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
You have addressed all three bullet points in the prompt. You explained why college might not be suitable, why a job is a good alternative, and suggested specific roles. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the suggestion of a 'researcher and development' position is quite brief and lacks detail on why this specific field suits your friend's skills. To reach a higher band, you should expand on your reasoning with more specific examples or personal anecdotes to make the advice feel more genuine and well-supported.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The letter is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a closing. You use basic cohesive devices such as 'Firstly' and 'In my point of view' to guide the reader. However, the transition between ideas is sometimes mechanical, and the paragraphing could be more effective. The sentence structure is occasionally fragmented, such as starting a new sentence with 'which is not beneficial', which disrupts the flow. Improving the use of linking words and ensuring that sentences are complete will help the text read more naturally.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You have a sufficient range of vocabulary to convey your message clearly. You use some relevant terms like 'practical knowledge' and 'beneficial'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'get great score' (should be 'got a great score') and 'in compare to' (should be 'compared to'). The vocabulary is generally functional but lacks the variety and precision required for higher bands. Focusing on more natural collocations and avoiding repetitive phrasing will help improve your lexical score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with verb tenses and articles, such as 'about go to college' (should be 'about going to college') and 'searching a job' (should be 'searching for a job'). Additionally, there are punctuation errors, such as the sentence fragment 'which is not beneficial for you according to me.' These errors are noticeable but do not prevent the reader from understanding your main points. Increasing your control over complex sentence forms will improve your accuracy.
