Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, which significantly impacts the development of ideas. While you addressed all three bullet points—explaining why college might not be suitable, the benefits of working, and suggesting specific jobs—the ideas are underdeveloped and lack the necessary detail to fully satisfy the task. For example, the reasons for not enjoying college are stated very briefly without elaboration. To improve, you must expand on your points with personal anecdotes or more detailed explanations to ensure the response is sufficiently developed and meets the length requirement.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.0

The letter lacks a clear structure and logical progression. There is no proper paragraphing, and the flow between sentences is disjointed. You rely on simple, repetitive sentence structures, and there is a lack of cohesive devices (such as 'furthermore', 'consequently', or 'however') to link your ideas together. The transition between the advice about college and the specific job suggestions is abrupt. To improve, you should organize your letter into distinct paragraphs: one for the introduction, one for each bullet point, and a concluding paragraph. Using linking words will help guide the reader through your argument more effectively.

Lexical Resource — Band 4.0

The vocabulary is quite limited and repetitive, which restricts your ability to express complex ideas. You use basic terms like 'good idea', 'work', and 'money' repeatedly. There are also errors in word choice and spelling, such as 'indpended' (independent) and 'sute able' (suitable). While the meaning is generally understandable, the lack of variety and the presence of spelling errors prevent a higher score. To improve, try to incorporate more precise vocabulary related to career development and education, and ensure you check your spelling carefully before finalizing your writing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0

The grammar is characterized by frequent errors that occasionally impede communication. There are significant issues with sentence construction, such as 'I am writing my friend why did not go to college' and 'you cloud earn money'. You rely almost exclusively on simple sentences, and there is a lack of complex structures. Subject-verb agreement and article usage are also inconsistent. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence structures first, then practice using complex sentences with relative clauses or conditional forms. Proofreading for common errors like missing verbs or incorrect word forms will also help increase your accuracy.
