Student answer (Band 6.5)

Dear Param,

How's it going my friend. Recently, I got to know that you are seeking advice from me, whether you should purse with college or start hunting job. From my perspective, I would suggest to start looking for job due to several reasons.

Firstly, nowadays employers are not seeking for employees with lot of degree and educations. Instead, they are looking for person who has several years of experience in the field. Secondly, the college fees are sky rocketing due to less numbers of students. Additionally, In colleges professor don't teach thoroughly as compared to before. They just teach briefly and we need to do our own researches.

However, if you start working from now onwards you will getting good salary and also gained few years of experience. Moreover, I also have few referrals which can help you to look for the jobs which are searching for.

Please let me know if you want to purse with it. Looking forward to your prompt response.

Best Wishes,

Bhoutik Gohil

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0

You have addressed all three bullet points required by the prompt. You clearly state why college might not be enjoyable, explain the benefits of working, and offer to help with job referrals. The tone is appropriate for a letter to a friend. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For example, the explanation regarding why college professors do not teach thoroughly is a bit vague and could have been expanded with a more concrete example to make your argument more persuasive. Overall, you have fulfilled the requirements of the task effectively.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The letter is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a closing. You use basic cohesive devices such as 'Firstly', 'Secondly', 'Additionally', and 'Moreover' to transition between ideas. While these are functional, the flow is occasionally mechanical. The paragraphing is appropriate, and the progression of ideas is easy to follow. To improve, try to vary your linking words and use more sophisticated referencing to connect sentences more fluidly, rather than relying on a list-like structure.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, such as 'sky rocketing', 'thoroughly', and 'referrals'. However, there are several instances of awkward word choice and collocation errors, such as 'purse with college' (instead of 'pursue'), 'hunting job' (instead of 'hunting for a job'), and 'lot of degree and educations' (instead of 'many degrees and much education'). These errors are noticeable but do not impede the overall meaning of your message. Expanding your vocabulary to include more precise collocations would help elevate your score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, particularly with verb forms and articles, such as 'you will getting' (instead of 'you will get'), 'professors don't teach' (instead of 'professors do not teach'), and 'the jobs which are searching for' (instead of 'the jobs you are searching for'). While these errors are frequent, they do not prevent the reader from understanding your intent. To reach a higher band, focus on subject-verb agreement and consistent tense usage.
