Student answer (Band 6.5)
Dear Florida,
Hey! How are you? I received your letter, and I would suggest trying to get a job rather doing masters. Because of same college and same class fellows, there will nothing to do something new or interesting. In masters there is too much emphasis on one particular subject and I know you need variation in topics to be indulged properly another wise you will feel bored.
Moreover, beginning a professional life will be very beneficial for you as you will get new valuable experiences in the field work. getting a job now will open the doors for many opportunities for future.
Lastly, I feels that the jobs like sales executive, customer representative, front desk manager would suits to you as of your good communication skills and the politeness. If you need any help in finding one for you then just text or call me. I will give you some references.
Hope you will make you best decision,
Your lovingly,
Sofie Adam

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The response successfully addresses all three bullet points required by the task. You clearly state why college might not be enjoyable, explain the benefits of working, and provide specific job suggestions. The tone is appropriate for a letter to a friend, and your position is consistent throughout. To reach a higher band, ensure that your arguments are slightly more developed; for example, instead of just mentioning 'variation in topics', you could briefly explain how a specific work environment provides the stimulation you feel is missing in an academic setting. Overall, the task is fully covered.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The letter is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a closing. You use basic cohesive devices like 'Moreover' and 'Lastly' to transition between points, which helps the reader follow your argument. However, the paragraphing could be improved; the current structure is a bit dense. Using clear paragraph breaks for each bullet point would enhance the visual clarity and flow. Additionally, some referencing is slightly mechanical. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring smoother transitions between sentences would elevate the coherence of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'professional life', 'valuable experiences', and 'communication skills'. There are some minor word choice issues, such as 'another wise' (otherwise) and 'indulged properly', which sound slightly unnatural in this context. While you successfully convey your meaning, the range is somewhat limited and relies on fairly common expressions. To improve, try incorporating more precise collocations and idiomatic expressions that sound natural in a friendly letter, while being careful with spelling and word formation.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical errors, such as 'I feels' (I feel), 'would suits' (would suit), and 'make you best decision' (make your best decision). These errors are frequent enough to be noticeable but do not impede communication. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement and pronoun usage. Increasing your control over complex sentence structures and proofreading for small slips will help you achieve a higher score in this criterion.
