Student answer (Band 6.5)
Dear Arsh,
I hope you're doing well and i felt glad after receiving your letter.
I know its very confusing to choose what you should do. Therefore, after a long thinking I would like to suggest that you should try to get a job despite going to college.
As I know, you are very practical person and you always told me that you can learn the things more effectively in the practical sessions instead of the theory. So, going to a college can be a tedious for you. But, if you would start a job you can get a hands-in experience while earning that is vital in todays job market.
On the basis of your skills, education and your nature ability of communication, you can start entry based job in the travel field and sales and corporate word. In these jobs, you will learn practical skills like teamwork and will get knowledge about what type of assets are essential for starting a business while getting experience.
I tried to give you better suggestion for your next path whatever you choose, I would pray you get success in life. After getting decision, just let me know whether you choose, So we can discuss ahead.
Your friend,
Sharan.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
You have successfully addressed all three bullet points in the prompt. You clearly explained why college might not be suitable for your friend, provided a logical argument for choosing employment, and suggested specific sectors like travel and sales. The tone is appropriate for a letter to a friend, and your position is consistent throughout. To reach a higher band, ensure that your arguments are slightly more developed; for instance, you could elaborate on why 'hands-on experience' is specifically more valuable than a degree in the current job market to add more depth to your reasoning.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The letter follows a logical structure with clear paragraphing. Each paragraph focuses on a specific requirement of the task, which helps the reader follow your argument easily. You use some cohesive devices like 'Therefore', 'As I know', and 'On the basis of', which help connect your ideas. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical. To improve, try to vary your linking words and ensure that the flow between sentences is more natural. For example, the transition between your advice and the closing could be smoother to better reflect a natural letter-writing style.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You have a sufficient range of vocabulary to convey your message clearly. Phrases like 'hands-on experience' and 'vital in today's job market' are well-used. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'nature ability of communication' (should be 'natural ability') and 'entry based job' (should be 'entry-level job'). Additionally, 'corporate word' is likely a typo for 'corporate world'. Expanding your vocabulary to include more precise collocations will help you achieve a higher score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While your meaning is always clear, there are several grammatical errors, such as 'despite going to college' (should be 'instead of going to college'), 'can be a tedious' (should be 'can be tedious'), and 'if you would start' (should be 'if you start'). There are also minor punctuation and capitalization issues, such as the lowercase 'i' in the first paragraph. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of conditional structures.
