Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
You have addressed all three bullet points required by the task. You clearly state why college might not be enjoyable, explain the benefits of employment, and suggest a specific sector for your friend. The tone is appropriate for a letter to a friend, and your position is consistent throughout. To reach a higher band, ensure that your ideas are more fully developed; for instance, when mentioning 'financial growth' or 'digital skills,' providing a brief, concrete example of how these would specifically benefit your friend would add more depth to your argument.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The letter is logically organized into clear paragraphs, each focusing on a specific aspect of the prompt. You use some cohesive devices such as 'Moving further,' 'Moreover,' and 'Last but not least' to guide the reader. However, some of these transitions feel slightly mechanical or forced. Additionally, the referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the phrase 'I am hoping you to chose it wisely,' where the object of the verb is slightly ambiguous. Improving the flow between sentences by using a wider variety of linking words would enhance the overall coherence.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, such as 'self-esteem,' 'prosperity,' and 'essential.' However, there are several instances of awkward word choice and minor errors, such as 'academic studied' instead of 'academic studies' and 'make your job convenience' instead of 'make your job convenient.' These errors do not impede communication, but they do limit your score. To improve, focus on using collocations more accurately and expanding your range of topic-specific vocabulary related to career advice and professional development.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text. Examples include 'I hope your are doing great' (your/you are), 'you better be need to find' (incorrect verb structure), and 'as yore are familiar' (spelling). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with spacing around commas and periods. While your meaning is generally clear, the frequency of these errors prevents the text from reaching a higher band. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and basic sentence construction will help improve your accuracy significantly.
