Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear Raman,
I hope you are doing well,
I’m writing this letter to express my view point regarding your confusion between whether to select college or get work.
According to me you prefer work as compared to college. Since you will not going to enjoy college life. Because mostly they taught us while using technology so it’s better if you want to learn anything you can search online everything is present. Even you do not need to spend time on assignments or other activities.
Apart from that I will suggest to do work, if we can start working know then in future you become financially stable and manage your expenses easily. Moreover, as your family conditions are not good then you should work and help your family to earn bread and butter.
There are many jobs available online where you can apply and get desired job opportunities. And you can also start searching in hotel industry as you already had study before regarding hospitality. So I think this field suits you best and you can earn good amount of money.
If you have any another question then feel free to contact me again through email or call, I will definitely help you, I look forward for your response.
Your faithfully,
Lovie

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses all three bullet points of the task. You clearly state your preference for working over college, explain why college might not be enjoyable, and provide specific suggestions for jobs in the hospitality sector. The tone is appropriate for a letter to a friend. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the argument that college is unnecessary because information is available online is a bit simplistic and could have been expanded with more nuance to better support your position. Overall, the task is fulfilled, but the depth of reasoning could be improved to reach a higher band.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The letter is logically organized into paragraphs, each focusing on a specific point. You use some cohesive devices such as 'Apart from that', 'Moreover', and 'So', which help the flow of ideas. However, some transitions are a bit mechanical, and the connection between sentences within paragraphs could be smoother. For example, the transition between the idea of online learning and the suggestion to work could be more fluid. The use of referencing is generally clear, though the overall structure would benefit from a more sophisticated range of linking words to connect your arguments more naturally.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'financially stable', 'hospitality', and 'desired job opportunities'. There are some minor inaccuracies in word choice, such as 'mostly they taught us' (should be 'they teach') and 'you already had study before' (should be 'you have studied'). While the vocabulary is sufficient to convey your meaning clearly, it lacks the flexibility and precision required for a higher band. You rely on some repetitive phrasing, and the use of 'bread and butter' is a bit informal, though acceptable in this context.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally distract the reader. Examples include 'Since you will not going to enjoy' (should be 'will not enjoy'), 'if we can start working know' (should be 'now'), and 'if you have any another question' (should be 'any other'). Punctuation is generally functional, but there are some issues with sentence boundaries and comma usage. While these errors do not impede communication, they indicate a need for more careful proofreading and a better grasp of verb tenses and word forms.
