Student answer (Band 6.5)
Dear Manasi,
I hope this letter finds you happy and healthy. I have received your letter last week. I can understand your concern about choosing next step between job and further study.
In my point of view, you should get a job. You have already finished your bachelor of pharmacy with first class and also completed an internship. Although it would be better to find a good job such as pharmacy technician, pharmacy assistance.
In addition, you will not enjoy going college because you have already gained enough theory knowledge so now it is time to have some practical knowledge. Thus, admission in college would be waste of time as well as money.
However, job will helps in good financial support. Your family will be proud of you too.
Moreover, you have wide range of options for doing job in pharmacy field. Pharmacy is the best course in healthcare and medical. You should apply in Shoppers drug market, Wall mart, Costco. This types of places also give you the good amount of pay.
It would be a pleasure to hear from you.
Yours faithfully,
Khushi Patel.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The response addresses all three bullet points required by the prompt. You clearly state why college is not suitable, explain the benefits of working, and suggest specific job types. The tone is appropriate for a letter to a friend. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited; for instance, the explanation of why college would be a 'waste of time' is brief. To reach a higher band, you could expand on the personal or professional growth benefits of working compared to the repetitive nature of further study. Overall, the message is clear and the purpose of the letter is fully achieved.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The letter is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a closing. You use basic cohesive devices such as 'In addition', 'Thus', and 'Moreover' to link your ideas. While these are functional, the flow is occasionally mechanical. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the different points requested in the prompt. To improve, try to vary your linking words and ensure that the transition between the suggestion of jobs and the financial benefits feels more natural rather than list-like. The referencing is generally clear, and the overall progression of the letter is easy to follow.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using topic-specific terms like 'bachelor of pharmacy', 'internship', and 'healthcare'. There are some minor errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'pharmacy assistance' (should be 'assistant') and 'admission in college' (should be 'admission to college'). You also use 'This types of places', which contains a grammatical error in agreement. While the vocabulary is sufficient to convey your meaning clearly, it lacks the flexibility and precision required for higher bands. Expanding your use of collocations and ensuring accurate word forms would enhance your score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors throughout the text, such as 'I have received your letter last week' (should be 'I received'), 'job will helps' (should be 'a job will help'), and 'doing job' (should be 'working'). These errors are frequent but do not impede communication. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles. While you attempt complex sentences, the control over them is inconsistent. Increasing your accuracy in basic tense usage and sentence construction will help you achieve a higher band.
