Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

You have addressed all three bullet points of the task: explaining why college might not be suitable, why a job is a good idea, and suggesting specific roles. Your position is clear from the beginning, and the tone is appropriate for a letter to a friend. However, the development of your ideas is somewhat limited. For example, while you mention that your friend prefers practical learning, you could have expanded on this by providing a specific example of a past situation where they excelled in a hands-on environment. To reach a higher band, ensure that each point is not just stated but fully supported with illustrative details.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The letter follows a logical progression, moving from the introduction to the advice and finally the conclusion. You use some cohesive devices like 'Furthermore', 'Moreover', and 'Lastly' to link your ideas. However, the paragraphing is somewhat fragmented; the body of the letter consists of several very short paragraphs, which disrupts the flow. Additionally, some transitions feel a bit mechanical. To improve, try to group related ideas into more substantial paragraphs and use a wider variety of linking words to create a smoother, more natural connection between your sentences.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, such as 'practical skills', 'financial independence', and 'leadership role'. However, there are several instances of word-choice errors and non-standard phrasing, such as 'reducement of your family debt' (should be 'reduction') and 'opt of finance jobs' (should be 'opt for'). There are also some spelling errors like 'theoratical' and 'afinancial'. While these do not prevent the reader from understanding your message, they do indicate a need for more precise control over word forms and spelling to reach a higher band.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text. Examples include 'It has been a while talking to you' (should be 'since I talked to you'), 'Which you might not able to learn' (fragmented sentence), and 'if you will go to college' (incorrect conditional tense). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with the placement of commas and spaces before punctuation marks. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction and ensuring that complex structures, such as conditionals, are used with greater accuracy.
