Student answer (Band 6.5)
Dear Pushti,
How are you ? I hope you are doing well. I am writing to give you some advice that helps you to decide which better option for your career.
I know you are not enjoying to go college everyday as you don't have personal vehicle and public transportation service is not reliable in your city. So daily commute becomes difficult for you.
According to me, job is the best option for you as you don't need to spend a huge amount of money for education and also you can get start to earn at early stage of life. Apart from that, a good job can help to build your interpersonal skills and enhance practical knowledge in you field. After some years of experience you can be able to join at superior level in your field.
In supply chain you can get variety of jobs at operational level. You have a numerous option for your field job. According to me Supply chain Analytics is the best role for you as I know that you have good knowledge in computer, for example V-Lookup , Power BI , professional dashboard and many more like these. For this reason I would suggest you to apply for supply chain analytics role.
Best of luck for you future and I hope my advice can be fruitful for you success. Please let me update about your decision.
Best Regards
Dipali Rabari

| Criterion | Band |
|---|---|

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The response addresses all three bullet points of the prompt effectively. You clearly explain why college would be difficult due to transportation issues, provide logical reasons for choosing a job, and offer specific, relevant career advice in the supply chain sector. The tone is appropriate for a letter to a friend, and the position is consistent throughout. To reach a higher band, you could expand slightly more on the personal benefits of the job beyond just financial and skill-based reasons, perhaps mentioning the social aspect or work-life balance to further develop your ideas.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The letter is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a closing. You use cohesive devices such as 'Apart from that', 'For this reason', and 'According to me' to link your ideas. However, some transitions feel a bit mechanical, and the paragraphing could be improved by ensuring each paragraph focuses strictly on one of the bullet points. The referencing is generally clear, though some sentences, such as 'I am writing to give you some advice that helps you to decide which better option for your career', are slightly clunky and could flow more naturally.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, including specific industry-related terms like 'supply chain analytics', 'operational level', and 'interpersonal skills'. There are some minor errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'get start to earn' instead of 'start earning' and 'join at superior level' instead of 'attain a senior position'. While these errors do not impede communication, they prevent the vocabulary from being considered sophisticated or highly precise. Expanding your range of collocations would help elevate your score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, such as 'not enjoying to go college' (should be 'not enjoying going to college'), 'in you field' (should be 'in your field'), and 'you have a numerous option' (should be 'you have numerous options'). While these errors are frequent, they rarely impede the reader's understanding. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of prepositions. Increasing the variety of complex structures while maintaining accuracy would also help you move into the higher band range.
