Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear Ridham,
I hope you are doing well. I recently heard that you completed your degree in Computer Science and now you are confused between further or getting a job. I would say job experience is more important.
I know that if you will take the Masters then it will help you to increase your knowledge but it is very expensive nowadays. Additionally, if there are repeated subjects you will get in the course then it is just waste of your time and energy. Rather then that find a good job with your current degree because that will develop your skills more efficiently. Based on this experience you will able to solve real world problems and understand the corporate background.
Once you will complete a year in one company, you will able to earn more than you have ever expected and also help you in growth of your career. You can apply for your

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses all three bullet points, though the final point regarding specific job types is left incomplete as the letter cuts off abruptly. The position is clear, and the advice is relevant. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited due to the incomplete nature of the response. To reach a higher band, ensure all parts of the prompt are fully concluded and provide more specific examples of job roles as requested in the instructions.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The letter follows a logical progression, starting with an introduction, moving to the reasons for avoiding college, and then discussing the benefits of employment. Paragraphing is attempted, but the abrupt ending disrupts the flow. Cohesive devices such as 'Additionally' and 'Rather than that' are used, though 'Rather than that' is slightly unnatural in this context. The transition between ideas is generally clear, but the lack of a proper closing statement affects the overall coherence.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing the message to be conveyed clearly. There are some minor inaccuracies in word choice, such as 'confused between further or getting a job' (should be 'confused about whether to pursue further studies or get a job') and 'growth of your career' (better as 'career advancement'). The range is sufficient for a general task, but it lacks the more sophisticated or idiomatic expressions that would elevate the score to a higher band.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, such as 'if you will take the Masters' (should be 'if you take a Master's degree') and 'you will able to' (missing the verb 'be'). These errors are frequent but do not prevent the reader from understanding the intended meaning. To improve, focus on the correct use of conditional structures and ensure auxiliary verbs are included where necessary.
