Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear lavpreet,
How are you? I am glad after received your letter about taking advice for you.
First thing i want to say you that if you want to go back to the college you would not enjoy over there because your all friends may be find a job, so they are not with you. And the college without friends seems to be boring.
Second thing is that, if you get a job in your field you can enhance your knowledge and get a good experience and you will be able to be more professional in your field.
Your field is of educator (RECE) you can find a job in good daycare or in school which will support you to gain your better experience and after working in this field for a five years you will be able to work in high school. So my advice to you join your field and get good salary and pay your expenses by your own.
Hope this will help you.
Your friend,
Khushman

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
You have addressed all three bullet points required by the task. You clearly state why college might not be enjoyable, explain the benefits of working, and suggest a specific field (RECE/educator). The tone is appropriate for a letter to a friend. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For example, the explanation regarding why college would be boring is a bit simplistic, focusing only on the absence of friends. To reach a higher band, you should expand on your reasoning with more depth, perhaps discussing the practical benefits of gaining work experience versus the theoretical nature of college studies.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The letter is organized into logical paragraphs, which helps the reader follow your argument. You use basic cohesive devices like 'First thing', 'Second thing', and 'So'. While these are functional, they are somewhat mechanical and repetitive. The progression of ideas is clear, but the transition between sentences could be smoother. To improve, try using a wider variety of linking words and phrases (e.g., 'Furthermore', 'Consequently', 'In addition to this') to connect your thoughts more naturally rather than relying on a numbered list structure.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
You have an adequate range of vocabulary to convey your message, such as 'enhance your knowledge', 'professional', and 'expenses'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'taking advice for you' (should be 'asking for my advice') and 'your all friends' (should be 'all your friends'). The vocabulary is generally functional but lacks the precision and variety required for higher bands. Focusing on learning more natural collocations and idiomatic expressions would help you express your ideas with greater sophistication.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text. Examples include 'I am glad after received your letter' (should be 'after receiving'), 'your all friends may be find a job' (should be 'may have found'), and 'work in this field for a five years' (should be 'for five years'). While these errors do not prevent the reader from understanding your meaning, they are noticeable and occur regularly. You need to focus on subject-verb agreement, verb tense consistency, and the correct use of articles to improve your accuracy.
