Student answer (Band 6.5)
Dear Mohit,
I hope that you are well. I am glad to hear this from you so I am writing to let you know that you should entre the workforce rather than attending college.
Firstly, as far as, I know about your choice, you are very good in practical skills and gain more knowledge from different tasks and situation instead of spending more hours with books which make you too bored. College not only requires enough amount of time to attend classes every day, but also assignments and monthly tests which make you feel stressed. Therefore, you are good in gaining experience from practical skills, you must find a job.
On the other hand, job not only makes you self independent, but also financially stable. Moreover, with the help of job, you can provide a good standard of living to your families and buy things as you want. In the end, Job helps you to increase your knowledge and offers you well position in the future.
As I know you have keen desire in modern technology so I would like to suggest you to seek job in IT sectors. This will be suitable for you because you already know the most of structure and tasks so you will not need to start at beginning. This position will not only pay you more, but also keep you future safe.
I look forward to hearing from you.
Kind regards
Sandeep

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
You have addressed all three bullet points of the task effectively. You clearly state why college might not be suitable for your friend, explain the benefits of entering the workforce, and provide a specific suggestion regarding the IT sector. Your position is consistent throughout the letter. To improve, ensure that your arguments are slightly more nuanced; for example, when discussing why college is 'boring,' you could expand on how the theoretical nature of academic study contrasts with your friend's practical strengths. Overall, the response is well-developed and meets the requirements of the prompt.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The letter is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs for each point, and a closing. You use cohesive devices such as 'Firstly,' 'On the other hand,' and 'Moreover' to guide the reader through your arguments. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical or repetitive. For instance, the phrase 'not only... but also' is used in almost every paragraph, which makes the flow feel a bit predictable. To reach a higher band, try to vary your linking words and ensure that the progression between sentences is smoother and less reliant on formulaic structures.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You have a sufficient range of vocabulary to convey your ideas clearly. You use some relevant topic-specific language like 'workforce,' 'financially stable,' and 'IT sectors.' However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'entre the workforce' (should be 'enter'), 'well position' (should be 'a good position'), and 'keep you future safe' (should be 'secure your future'). While these errors do not impede communication, they indicate a need for more precise control over word forms and common English collocations to reach a higher band.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While you attempt complex sentences, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with articles ('the most of structure'), prepositions ('as far as, I know about your choice'), and subject-verb agreement ('books which make you too bored'). Punctuation is generally functional, but there are unnecessary commas, such as in 'as far as, I know.' To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction and proofreading for small errors in articles and verb forms, as these currently occur frequently enough to distract from your otherwise clear message.
