Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear Jasreet,
I hope you're doing well. It's been ages since we last caught up. Last Monday, I received a letter from you in which you asked for my advice about your future.
I understand that you're worried about youre future plans. I personally think that you no need to rejoin the university or college for futhure studies. You already did the Master's from University of lethbridge. If you rejoin the college you face several problems regarding friend cricle or good tutor, you will feel very bore.
I personally recommend you do some kind of jobs due to this, you earn good money and fulfil you're basic needs.
According to my perspective, you should apply for the accountant position because you recently completed the accounting degree with flying colours. You can easly get the best job in big company. Although more education provide numbers of opportunities, you already did Master's that's enough for your job.
I hope you follow my advice
Your lovingly

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response covers all three bullet points required in the prompt. You successfully mention why your friend might not enjoy college by stating 'you will feel very bore' and pointing out potential social and academic issues. You explain that getting a job is a good idea because it allows him or her to 'earn good money and fulfil you're basic needs.' Finally, you suggest a suitable type of job, specifically recommending an 'accountant position' given their recent degree. The tone is appropriately friendly and conversational, beginning and ending in line with the required format. All parts of the task are adequately addressed, though some ideas could be extended further for a higher band. Overall, the task requirements are well met.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The letter maintains a clear overall arrangement and follows a logical progression from the opening pleasantries to the advice regarding college, working, and specific job suggestions. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate different points, such as the discussion on college versus the job recommendation. However, cohesive devices are sometimes mechanical or sparse, and referencing is occasionally unclear, such as the abrupt transitions between paragraphs. Despite these minor flaws in cohesion, the letter is coherent overall and easy to follow, fitting comfortably within the mid-range descriptors for this criterion.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully incorporating terms related to education and employment, such as 'Master's,' 'university,' 'accounting degree,' and 'position.' However, there are notable word choice and collocation errors, such as 'youre future,' 'futhure studies,' 'rejoin the university,' 'friend cricle,' and 'feel very bore' instead of 'bored.' There are also spelling errors like 'futhure,' 'cricle,' and 'easly.' While these errors do not impede communication, they reflect a limited vocabulary control that prevents the response from achieving a higher band score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The writing demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, such as conditional or concessive clauses ('Although more education provide numbers of opportunities, you already did Master's that's enough'). However, there are frequent grammatical errors, including missing articles ('do some kind of jobs', 'completed accounting degree'), subject-verb agreement issues ('education provide'), and incorrect pronoun usage or contractions ('you no need', 'youre basic needs'). Punctuation is also occasionally lacking, particularly around sentence boundaries. While the meaning is generally clear, the density of grammatical errors keeps the score at this level.
