Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response effectively covers all bullet points required by the prompt. You adopt a friendly and informal tone appropriate for a letter to a friend. You clearly state why college might not be suitable by referring to family financial burdens and health issues, explain why getting a job is a good idea to overcome these issues, and successfully suggest suitable types of jobs, such as a computer assistant in an insurance company and online tuitions. The ideas are well-developed and relevant throughout the letter, fulfilling the requirements for a Band 7.0 level.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The letter has a clear logical organisation and progression. You use appropriate paragraphs to separate different points, such as the discussion on family responsibilities, the suggestion to find a job, and the specific job recommendations. Cohesive devices like 'Moreover' and 'As a member of a middle class family' are used to connect ideas, although some phrasing around transitions feels slightly mechanical. Paragraphing is used sufficiently and appropriately, guiding the reader smoothly from the introduction to the conclusion.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
Your lexical range is adequate and generally appropriate for the task, allowing you to convey your message clearly. You attempt less common vocabulary items such as 'livelihood conditions', 'accomplish the basic needs', and 'advanced certified courses'. However, there are some noticeable word choice errors and misspellings, such as 'talk' instead of 'talked', 'te' instead of 'to', 'fillfull' instead of 'fulfil', 'comfotably' instead of 'comfortably', and 'pakage' instead of 'package'. These occasional errors place this response solidly at a Band 6.0.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, such as 'You have not only the high school degree but also passed various advanced certified courses which can help you to seek a reasonable job.' There are several grammatical errors and awkward phrasing throughout, for example, 'It feels like ages ago since we last talk' and 'I know very well that why are you facing this situation.' While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score, making Band 6.0 an appropriate evaluation.
