Student answer (Band 6.5)
Dear Zaid,
I hope you are doing great. I am glad you wrote letter to me. From you letter it is undeniable, that you are not serious about you future. As you asked me about whether you should join the college or look for a job. I would recommended you to get a job instead getting admission in college.
To begin with, as I know you that you prefer doing things pratically and therefore, you should join workforce. As in the college, you have be in long lectures, mojor part of syllabus is theoretical and exam too. In addition, you have to show academic interest to get good grades.
However, gaining pratical expierence will not only help you in upcomimg future jobs, but also it will aid you financially in present as you will work. As a result, you can start earning in early age and help yourself and your family financially.
Furthermore, you should look for job that you are interested. As far as I know, you have excellent grip at communication. You can look for jobs like sales, customer service etc.
Beside these, you can go for basic technical work like data entry, data handling in I.T departments.
Let's catch up soon.
Take care,
Maksud

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0
The response fully addresses all parts of the task prompt. You clearly explain why your friend would not enjoy college by pointing out the long lectures and theoretical nature of the syllabus. You successfully explain why getting a job is a good idea, mentioning practical experience and early financial independence to help his family. Furthermore, you provide suitable job suggestions, specifically highlighting sales, customer service, and basic technical work like data entry. The tone is appropriately informal and friendly throughout, matching the requirements of a letter to a friend. All bullet points are well-developed, and the purpose of the communication is achieved effectively.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The letter is logically organised with a clear progression of ideas from paragraph to paragraph. You make good use of cohesive devices to connect your points, such as 'To begin with,' 'However,' and 'Furthermore.' Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate different parts of the letter, such as the introduction, reasons against college, reasons for working, job suggestions, and sign-off. However, there are occasional minor lapses in cohesion, such as referencing issues like 'you letter' instead of 'your letter' and slightly awkward transitional phrases, but overall the structure is coherent and easy to follow.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary suitable for a general task response, attempting some less common words and phrases like 'undeniable,' 'theoretical,' 'financial independence' (implied), and 'communication.' However, there are several spelling and word choice errors throughout the text, such as 'pratically' instead of 'practically,' 'mojor' instead of 'major,' 'expierence' instead of 'experience,' and 'upcomimg' instead of 'upcoming.' While these errors do not impede communication, they prevent the lexical score from reaching a higher band. To improve, pay closer attention to spelling and spelling-check your writing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating some control over grammar with complex structures attempted in sentences like 'As a result, you can start earning in early age and help yourself and your family financially.' However, there are several grammatical errors and awkward phrasings throughout the text, including missing articles and prepositions, such as 'you wrote letter to me' instead of 'you wrote a letter to me,' 'instead getting admission' instead of 'instead of getting admission,' and 'in early age' instead of 'at an early age.' Punctuation is generally fine, but sentence boundary errors occur, such as fragment sentences starting with 'As in the college...'.
