Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear Sara,
I hope you are doing well. I am writing to suggest you about your concern to get a job or enroll in the college. I suggest that you should get a job instead of go to college.
Firstly, I would like to inform you that you may not be enjoy going to college because nowadays colleges more focus on the extra curriculum activities rather than study. As you have keen intrest in study, you find going to college as a waste of time. Instead of college you can enroll in a short-term online course, which would not only save your time but also help develop new skills.
Furthermore, as you always said that you want to support your family financially, getting a job is more suitable for you. You can fulfil yours and your families desires with a high salary job. In addition, you can gain the experience that can help you get a job at the international companies in the future.
I would like to tell you that as you have completed your schooling in science stream, getting job in health care field would be more perfect for you. I have some contacts at Vivan clinic, you can contact them for an interview. You can also apply for a teacher job as your mathematics skill is exceptional.
Lastly, I will be happy if you could select in the interviews. I hope youwill get a job soon and all the very best for your future journey.
Take care,
alphiya

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
The response successfully covers all bullet points required by the prompt. You adopt a consistent, friendly tone suitable for a letter to a friend. You clearly state why Sara might not enjoy college by pointing out the focus on extracurricular activities rather than study, and you explain why getting a job is a good idea, citing financial support and future career opportunities. Furthermore, you suggest suitable jobs, such as working in the healthcare field or as a teacher, and even provide a specific contact. The purpose of the letter is fully achieved, and all requirements are thoroughly addressed throughout.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
Your letter is easy to read and follows a logical structure. Ideas are clearly divided into paragraphs with appropriate introductions and conclusions. You make good use of cohesive devices such as 'Firstly', 'Furthermore', 'In addition', and 'Lastly' to guide the reader through your arguments. However, paragraphing could be slightly more natural, and occasional minor referencing issues appear, such as in the opening sentence. Overall, the organization is clear and progression is well managed, fitting the criteria for a Band 6.5 or solid 7.0.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully using terms like 'financially', 'extracurricular activities', 'online course', and 'international companies'. However, there are some noticeable word choice and collocation errors, such as writing 'suggest you about your concern' instead of 'write to address your concern', 'colleges more focus' instead of 'colleges focus more', and 'teacher job' instead of 'teaching position'. Despite these errors, meaning is never impeded, and your vocabulary is sufficient to convey your ideas clearly.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, including conditional and relative clauses like 'which would not only save your time but also help develop new skills.' However, there are several grammatical errors throughout the letter, such as missing prepositions or incorrect verb forms ('instead of go to college' instead of 'instead of going', 'you may not be enjoy', 'fulfil yours and your families desires' instead of 'fulfill your and your family's desires', and 'hope youwill'). While these errors are frequent, they rarely impede overall communication.
