Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear Ram,
I am writing to provide an answer to your question from the previous letter that you sent to me. In my opinion, it is time for you to find a good job.
You are 26 years old now. I think, it will not be easy for you to study with younger children. Also, there will be no enjoyment for you at current age because you have been dealing with many responsibilities. In addition, it will increase financial crisis on your shoulders.
After your father lost his job, you have been trying to handle everyone's expenses from your scholarship. Now, it is a perfect time for you to find a full-time work.
I believe that you have a very good communication skill which can help you to get a job at restaurants and grcoeries stores. In these sorts of job you have to correspond with different types of customers. As a result, these jobs are the best options for you.
I look forward to hearing from you regarding my suggestion. I hope you able to work for a good employer. Take care!
Yours sincerely,
Meet.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
The response successfully covers all parts of the prompt, earning a solid score in this category. You clearly state why Ram would not enjoy college by pointing out his age and existing responsibilities, explain why a job is a good idea given his family situation, and suggest suitable roles like working in restaurants or grocery stores. Your position is clear throughout the letter. To move up to the next band, you could further extend and develop your ideas, perhaps by elaborating more on why balancing study with his current financial pressures would make college stressful, rather than moving quite quickly through the points. However, all requirements of the general training letter are fully addressed with relevant ideas.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The letter shows a clear overall arrangement with logical progression from your opening statement about finding a job to your specific reasons and job suggestions. You use paragraphing sufficiently and appropriately, dedicating distinct paragraphs to different points, such as his age and responsibilities, his financial situation, and suitable job types. Cohesive devices are generally well managed, though some referencing and transitions can feel slightly mechanical, such as 'Also' and 'In addition' placed close together. To reach a higher band, you could use a wider variety of cohesive phrases more flexibly and smoothly connect your sentences to make the flow completely natural and unobtrusive throughout.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully communicating your points with terms like 'responsibilities', 'financial crisis', and 'communication skill'. However, there are some noticeable lexical issues, including a spelling error ('grcoeries' instead of 'groceries') and slight awkwardness in word choice, such as saying 'increase financial crisis on your shoulders' where 'add to your financial burden' would be more natural. You also use the phrase 'full-time work' where an article is missing. To achieve a higher score, you should incorporate less common vocabulary with better precision and pay closer attention to natural collocations and spelling.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
The response features a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating reasonable control over your grammar. You successfully use relative clauses, such as 'which can help you to get a job', and modal verbs effectively. There are some grammar errors, such as missing a verb in the closing sentence ('I hope you able to work'), unnecessary comma usage ('I think, it will not be easy'), and a preposition choice ('at current age' instead of 'at your current age'). Fortunately, these errors are relatively infrequent and rarely impede communication, allowing the reader to easily understand your meaning. To push into higher bands, you would need to produce a higher frequency of error-free complex sentences.
