Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear Urvi,
Hope you are doing well.
I have received your letter that you are looking for advice that whether you should go to college or try to get a job, according to my point of view I think you should try to get a job since you have already completed your bachlors degree and that too with good marks so for you now getting into the corporate world will get the good choice.
I am you are from a middle class family and your parents are also retired from there job, so if you get a job you will get a decent salary by which you can fullfil your parents dreams.
Considering you situation, you will not enjoy going to college now, because all our batchmates stating working and at some point of time you are going to miss them and you will not be able to concentrate on your study.
Seeing your academics you have a very good petentials that once you decided something to do, you will work hard to achive that milestone, if you keep the same approach in corporate world you are going to succseed here as well.
Since you are a very good in programming language, I think you should go for developer job and I see nowadays there are lots of opening for developer in a very good reputated companies.
Please feel free reach out me if in case any help is needed in searching the job.
Thank you,
Paras

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You successfully cover all parts of the prompt by explaining why your friend would not enjoy college, why getting a job is a good idea, and suggesting suitable types of employment, such as a developer role. Your position is clear throughout the letter. However, some ideas are more fully developed than others; for instance, the suggestion about your friend's background and retired parents touches on why a job is important, but the explanation regarding why college would not be enjoyed relies heavily on general assumptions about batchmates rather than deeper elaboration. This reflects a response that fully covers the requirements while showing some under-developed supporting points, fitting the mid-range level well. To reach higher tiers, you should extend and support all of your main ideas with more detailed reasoning and specific examples.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
Your letter has a coherent overall arrangement and follows an appropriate friendly letter format, starting with an informal greeting and concluding with a clear sign-off. Information is presented logically, moving from your initial advice to reasons regarding finances and academics, followed by job suggestions. However, cohesion at times feels mechanical or is affected by punctuation choices, such as long run-on sentences joined by commas instead of full stops or appropriate conjunctions (e.g., '...good marks so for you now getting into...'). Referencing is generally understandable, but paragraphing could be used more purposefully to separate distinct ideas clearly. To improve further, ensure that sentences are punctuated with greater control and that cohesive ties between your arguments are used more smoothly.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use an adequate vocabulary range for the task, attempting less common words and phrases related to the corporate world, such as 'corporate world', 'decent salary', and 'programming language'. However, there are some noticeable vocabulary and spelling errors, such as 'bachlors', 'fullfil', 'petentials', 'achive', 'succseed', and 'reputated', which show that word form and spelling control need strengthening. While these lexical errors do not impede communication, they restrict your vocabulary score. To move up to higher bands, you should work on precise word choices, correct spelling of common and less common terms, and accurate collocations without relying on misspelled variants of advanced words.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, attempting structures like 'Seeing your academics you have a very good petentials that once you decided something to do, you will work hard...'. There are some errors in grammar and punctuation, including missing articles (e.g., 'getting job', 'searching job'), preposition usage (e.g., 'reach out me'), and tense consistency in complex clauses. Fortunately, these errors rarely impede communication and the reader can easily follow your meaning. To achieve a higher band, you need to produce a greater proportion of error-free sentences, maintain tighter control over complex sentence structures, and polish your punctuation to avoid run-on sentences.
