Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear Krishna!
I recently received your letter asking about whether to go to college or try to get a job. I would like to suggest you to find a job rather than going to the college. As much as I know about you, you are a type of person who wouldn't make friends so easily and hence it can be boring to attend school and you wont be able to concentrate too.
As you are so much interested in travelling and exploring new places, I would like to suggest you to start looking for jobs as a travel guide. I believe you can crack any interview in this field. As this is your subject of interest, you will love what you're doing and this will ultimately take you to the success. Work will not feel like work for you. You would be surrounded by spectacular views and i know you would never regret for choosing this field.
Regards
Shusma

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
The response successfully addresses all parts of the prompt, covering why your friend might not enjoy college, why getting a job is a good idea, and suggesting a suitable type of job. For instance, you mention that your friend is not the type to make friends easily, which makes college boring, and you suggest a travel guide role due to their interest in exploring places. However, some ideas are a bit under-developed. While you mention that a travel guide role will lead to success and that work will not feel like work, you could have extended this point further by explaining specific daily tasks or the practical benefits of such a role. Your tone is suitably informal and friendly, fitting the general training letter format well.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The letter presents a coherent overall arrangement with a clear, logical progression of ideas from discussing college to proposing a job and finally suggesting a specific career path. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate different points, starting with your thoughts on college and moving into job suggestions in the second paragraph. However, cohesion is sometimes a little mechanical. For example, the transition phrases like 'As much as I know about you' and 'As you are so much interested' rely heavily on repetitive use of 'as'. Using a wider variety of cohesive devices and smoother referencing would help lift the organization to the next level.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
Your vocabulary choice demonstrates an adequate range for the task, successfully conveying your message to your friend. You make good attempts at less common vocabulary, such as 'spectacular views', 'exploring new places', and 'subject of interest'. However, there are some minor inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as saying 'suggest you to find a job' instead of 'suggest that you find a job' or 'suggest finding a job', and 'regret for choosing' rather than 'regret choosing'. These occasional errors do not impede communication, but eliminating them and using more precise collocations will enhance your lexical score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
The writing displays a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating your ability to construct multi-clause sentences like 'As much as I know about you, you are a type of person who wouldn't make friends so easily'. There are some errors in grammar and punctuation, such as missing articles ('going to the college' instead of 'going to college'), an unnecessary preposition ('suggest you to find'), and lowercase letters for 'i'. Fortunately, these errors rarely impede communication and the majority of your sentences remain clear. To achieve a higher band, you would need to produce more frequent error-free sentences while maintaining a wide variety of complex structures.
