Student answer (Band 6.0)
Hello Gagan,
I hope you're doing well. I know it's been ages since we last talked. I'm writing to advice you to choose a job over going to college. I know you're so excited to start a college and make new friends. However, my honest answer is, get a job. You have already completed bachelor's in Business Marketing, and I don't thibk you need a master's degree to acquire more knowledge in business marketing. At this point, you'll not enjoy going to college and doing bundle of assignments. I know it sound weired, but truly nobody is interested in building new connections. As everyone will be busy in their work. It's just seems to be fun to you; however, in reality it is not. In this course you'll only find the topics in repitition. I suggest you to find a job as it will give you real client-based experience. Having a job will teach you life lessons and real business strategies which you'll not be able learn in a classroom. Another exciting thing about job is, you'll be financially independent and learn to take wise decisions related to money.
Here, I would like to recommend you few suitable jobs. You can apply for sales manager, marketing data analyst, or strategy maker, these position are well-suited with your qualification. Of course, each of the department will benefit you with enormouse experience and knowledge. Also, these job positions will open doors to valuable job opportunities. I hope you will consider my advice and take the right decision. I miss you a lot. I can't wait to meet you!
Lots of love,
Kamal

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0
The letter addresses all three requested points and maintains a clear recommendation to seek work rather than continue studying. You explain why college may not suit Gagan by referring to repeated topics and assignments, give practical benefits such as client-based experience and financial independence, and suggest several roles linked to his business-marketing degree. These ideas are relevant and generally extended with supporting reasons. Some claims, however, are too broad—for example, “nobody is interested in building new connections”—and the job suggestions could be made more convincing by briefly linking each role to his particular strengths or experience. Overall, the purpose and friendly tone are clear, with room to make a few supporting points more precise.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The letter has a clear overall progression: it introduces your advice, explains why college may not be enjoyable, presents the advantages of employment, and then lists suitable jobs. Paragraphing supports this sequence, and linking expressions such as “However,” “Another exciting thing,” and “Also” help guide the reader. The organisation is coherent, but some connections are mechanical or unclear. For instance, “As everyone will be busy in their work” does not clearly support the preceding claim about making connections, and “In this course” has an uncertain reference. The long, crowded paragraphs also make the central points less easy to distinguish. Clearer links between claims and more deliberate paragraph breaks would strengthen the progression.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use a range of vocabulary relevant to education and employment, including “client-based experience,” “financially independent,” “business strategies,” and “valuable job opportunities.” These choices help communicate the main ideas, but noticeable spelling, word-form, and collocation problems limit precision. Examples include “advice” where the verb “advise” is needed, “weired,” “repitition,” and “enormouse.” Some phrases are also unnatural or imprecise, such as “doing bundle of assignments,” “strategy maker,” and “these position.” Aim to check spelling and choose conventional job titles and collocations. More accurate phrasing would make your vocabulary sound more natural and reduce the effort required to interpret a few sentences.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including contrast with “However” and a relative clause in “which you’ll not be able to learn in a classroom.” The message remains understandable, but errors recur in sentence construction, agreement, articles, and verb patterns. For example, “I’m writing to advice you” has an incorrect verb form, “I know it sound” lacks subject–verb agreement, and “these position are” has a plural agreement error. Other examples include “a college,” “doing bundle of assignments,” and “you’ll not be able learn.” Some punctuation and sentence boundaries also need attention, particularly around “As everyone will be busy in their work.” Review articles, verb forms, and agreement, then proofread complex sentences for completeness.
