Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear Taran,
I hope you're doing well. I am glad to know that you completed your study. Now you're confusing in between pursue a further study or get a job. I think you should get a job which provides you numerous benefits.
To be honest, I do not think you would really pursue a colleage again because you can get bored. As I know you, you always interested to learn new things so colleage life would be same for you as long lectures, theoritical assignments.
Instead, getting a job is a better decision for you as a job provides you lots of skills. Firstly, you can learn how to communicate and keep patience in the office. Also, you would get practical skills. You would learn about how you can start your own business in the future.
I think that there a plenty of jobs which would be beneficial for you such as in photography because you're extremely good in taking pictures. You would also start your own business in this field. You can also get job in any resturents as you' re iterested in cooking. After learing cooking skills, you would become a chef.
I would appreciate it if you consider my words. I look forward to hearing your decision.
Best wishes,
Kaur.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You address all three points and make your recommendation clear from the opening: you advise Taran to work rather than continue studying. The reasons are relevant, including the possibility of finding college boring and gaining practical and communication skills through employment. You also suggest photography and restaurant work, linking these to Taran’s interests and abilities. This gives the letter a solid, personal response to the task. Some ideas are less fully explained, however: the claim that college would be boring because of lectures and theoretical assignments could be tied more clearly to Taran’s preferences, and the benefits of restaurant work could be developed beyond becoming a chef. More specific supporting detail would make the advice feel more fully developed.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The letter is organised into clear paragraphs: an introduction, a reason against college, reasons to work, and suitable job suggestions, followed by an appropriate closing. This sequence makes the overall message easy to follow. Linking expressions such as “Instead,” “Firstly,” and “Also” help signal the progression, and the photography and cooking suggestions are connected to details about Taran. At times, however, the links feel somewhat mechanical, particularly the repeated use of “You would” and “You can.” The transition from the general benefits of employment to the specific job examples could also be smoother. Varying the connections between ideas and using clearer references where needed would make the flow more natural and flexible.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use enough vocabulary to communicate the advice and include some relevant topic language, such as “practical skills,” “theoretical assignments,” and “start your own business.” The personal references to photography and cooking also help make the suggestions specific. However, noticeable spelling, word-form, and collocation errors limit precision: “colleage,” “theoritical,” “resturents,” and “iterested” are misspelled, while “you’re confusing in between” and “learn how to communicate and keep patience” are not natural expressions. Some wording is also repetitive, especially “job” and “you would.” Aim to learn common phrases as complete units and check spelling carefully; this would make your vocabulary more accurate and natural without changing the clear meaning.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You use a mix of simple sentences and longer structures, including reasons introduced with “because” and examples introduced with “as.” Most of the message remains understandable, and the letter’s purpose is clear. Some grammatical errors persist, particularly with verb forms, agreement, and articles. For example, “you always interested” needs a form of “be,” and “there a plenty of jobs” needs “are.” In “you can get job,” an article is missing, while “you would really pursue a colleage again” does not express the intended idea clearly through its verb construction. There are also some awkward sentence patterns that make the reader pause. Practise checking each sentence for a complete verb phrase and correct subject–verb agreement, while continuing to use varied sentence forms.
