Dear ................. ,
Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear Laraib,
I hope you're doing well, I recieved your letter yesterday and i thought to suggest you that getting a job is more favourable for you after seeing your circumstances.
I think you'll not enjoy getting back to college after 6 years of study gap. If you started college again you'll have to study with young students and it might be possible that you can't settle in totally different environment.
You should start thinking of applying for a job, because it'll give you a professional experience. And as you're already worked for last 5 years you'll easily land a good position. And obviously it'll also help you financially and you'll become self sufficient once again.
I would suggest you to start applying for the job roles of Imaging Technologit in all the hospitals and clinics of your city. And I am pretty sure you'll be able to get a job very soon.
Best of luck,
Navishana

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
The letter addresses all three requested points and maintains a clear recommendation to seek work. You explain that returning to college after a six-year gap could mean studying with younger students and adjusting to a different environment, and you connect employment to professional experience and financial independence. The suggestion to apply for imaging-technology roles in local hospitals and clinics is specific and relevant. Some ideas, however, are asserted rather than fully explained: for example, you could clarify why the college environment would not suit Laraib personally, and link her five years of work experience to the proposed role. This covers the task well, while fuller development and support would make the advice more convincing.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The letter has a clear overall arrangement: an opening that states your advice, separate paragraphs for college and employment, and a closing with a job suggestion and good wishes. This makes the main progression easy to follow. You also use linking expressions such as “because,” “And,” and “obviously” to show relationships between ideas. At times, however, the connections feel mechanical or the reference is not fully clear; for instance, “And as you're already worked for last 5 years” does not smoothly connect the experience to the recommendation. A more natural sequence of explanation, with fewer sentence-initial “And” phrases and clearer links between experience and job suitability, would improve cohesion.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use enough vocabulary to communicate the advice, including relevant terms such as “professional experience,” “financially,” and “position.” There are also attempts at more specific language in the suggested field of imaging technology. However, several word-choice, collocation, and spelling problems limit precision: “more favourable for you” is awkward for giving personal advice, “settle in” is less natural here than “adjust,” and “Imaging Technologit” is misspelled. “Self sufficient” would also be clearer as “financially independent” in this context. These issues do not prevent the reader from understanding your main message, but more accurate and natural phrasing would strengthen the letter’s vocabulary.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
The response includes both simple statements and more complex forms, such as the conditional “If you started college again…” and the reason clause “because it'll give you a professional experience.” Most ideas remain understandable, but some grammatical errors occur. In the opening, two independent clauses are joined with a comma (“I hope you're doing well, I received…”); use a full stop or a conjunction. The phrase “as you're already worked” needs a correct tense, such as “as you've already worked,” and “I would suggest you to start” should be “I would suggest that you start” or “I would advise you to start.” These are noticeable but rarely obstruct meaning; more consistent control of verb forms and sentence boundaries would improve accuracy.
