Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear Raju,
I hope this letter finds you well, I sm writing in response to your that either you should continue your further studies in college or to apply for a job.
According to my perspective you should start working. Instead of going to college, as I knew you from your childhood, I know that you dont have much intreast in studies. You hardly pass the high school with minimum passing grades. so, taking admission to college is titally a waste of time and money, because you will not able to concentrate on studies. Moreover, the college studies are extremely difficult you will definately not like it.
I would rather prefer you to look for some job. Because , initally after college you have to do some kind of work to support your finances. Apart from this your family finincial condition is also not strong. so, instead of wasting money in college fees you should do some kind of job.
As you were always intreasted in sports, and you achieved lots of rewards in your school time at both national and international level. so, I would suggest you to get a job related to your intreast like basketball in which uou feel happy and satisfied.
Hoping you all the very best for your future and looking forward to meey you soon.
Kind regards,
Kajal Kumari

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You address all three requested points and make your recommendation clear: you advise Raju to work rather than attend college. The reasons are relevant, including his limited interest in study, his school results and his family’s financial situation. You also connect a suitable job to his sporting interests and achievements. This covers the task well, though some ideas need more careful development: saying college would be “a waste of time and money” and “extremely difficult” is quite general, and the suggested basketball-related work is not specific enough to show what role he could pursue. To strengthen the letter further, explain more precisely why college would not suit him and name practical options such as coaching or working at a sports centre.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The letter has a clear overall shape: an opening, separate paragraphs for your reasons and advice, and an appropriate closing. The reader can follow the progression from your recommendation to the financial argument and then to a job linked to Raju’s interests. You also use linking expressions such as “Moreover” and “Apart from this.” However, some connections feel mechanical or unclear. For example, “I would rather prefer you to look for some job. Because…” breaks the explanation into an awkward fragment, while repeated “so” links ideas in a similar way. Improve the flow by joining related points into complete sentences and using pronouns or transitions that make the relationship between each reason and your advice explicit.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
Your vocabulary is sufficient to communicate the main advice, and phrases such as “financial condition,” “support your finances” and “related to your interest” show attempts to express specific ideas. However, noticeable spelling and word-choice errors reduce precision, including “intreast,” “finincial,” “definately” and “titally.” Some expressions are also unnatural or imprecise: “continue your further studies,” “look for some job” and “a job related to your interest like basketball” could be phrased more naturally. These issues do not prevent the reader from understanding your message, but they limit the range and control expected at a stronger level. Check spelling carefully and learn common collocations for education, employment and sports-related work.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including a reason clause in “because you will not able to concentrate on studies” and a conditional-style explanation of your advice. However, errors in sentence construction and grammar occur often enough to make some sentences awkward or difficult to process. For example, “I hope this letter finds you well, I sm writing…” joins two independent clauses with a comma, and “you will not able” is missing “be.” The opening phrase “in response to your that either…” is also structurally unclear. Work on complete sentence boundaries, verb forms and clause structure; for instance, separate the greeting sentence from the purpose of the letter and write “you will not be able to concentrate.”
