Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

You give a clear recommendation to seek work while continuing to study at home, and you address all three requested points. The explanation of college is relevant: you say there are few students and that lectures are boring. You also give reasons for working, including earning money, developing people skills, and supporting your parents, then suggest a receptionist role that matches the friend’s communication and computer abilities. These details make the advice personal and purposeful. Some points are less fully developed, however: the claim that college would not be enjoyable is brief, and the benefits of work are listed more than explained. To strengthen the letter, add a specific example of why the friend would prefer practical work and explain how a receptionist job would suit their plans.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The letter has a coherent overall arrangement: you introduce your advice, explain the advantages of working, recommend a suitable job, and close warmly. Paragraphing helps separate these stages, and linking expressions such as “Moreover,” “Not only…but also,” and “because” show how ideas relate. The progression is generally easy to follow, although some connections feel mechanical or unclear. For example, the opening moves quickly from college being boring to studying at home, and the long sentence about a receptionist role combines several reasons and future outcomes without clear breaks. Use shorter sentences where several ideas are crowded together, and make references explicit—for instance, clarify what “which” refers to in the opening. This would make the organisation smoother and cohesion less dependent on linking phrases.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

Your vocabulary is sufficient to communicate the main advice, and you attempt some relevant expressions, including “good communication skills,” “well-paid opportunities,” and “deal with people.” However, noticeable spelling, word-form, and collocation errors sometimes make the reader pause: “bore,” “borning,” “extroword,” “receptionst,” and “convenicing power” are not accurate forms. Some phrases are also unnatural, such as “good wage as a college student” and “grab well-paid opportunities.” These issues limit the precision and naturalness of the vocabulary, even though the intended meaning is usually recoverable. Check spelling carefully and learn common word partnerships for employment and education. Choosing accurate, natural phrases is more useful than attempting an unusual word whose form or meaning is uncertain.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a reason clause with “because,” a “which” clause, and the construction “Not only…but also.” This gives the letter some structural variety. However, errors in agreement, articles, verb forms, and sentence construction are frequent enough to affect clarity. Examples include “I am writing this letter to advice you,” “college is bore,” “job are enjoyable,” and “It will brings good results.” The opening sentence also has an unclear clause structure in “due to which are not enjoy the college.” Practise building accurate basic sentences first, then add subordinate clauses. Pay particular attention to subject–verb agreement, infinitives after “to,” and complete clauses; proofreading each sentence for these patterns would improve control.
