Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address all three requested points and make your recommendation clear: you advise Sam to work rather than attend college, noting that he felt bored at school and could earn money and develop skills through employment. The suggestions of teaching, banking and accountancy also respond to the final bullet. However, some points are only briefly explained. For example, saying Sam is “not interested in college” does not fully explain why college would be an unenjoyable experience for him, and the job options are listed without showing why they suit his interests or abilities. Develop these reasons with one or two personal details and explain how a suggested role fits Sam. The friendly opening and closing are appropriate for this letter.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The letter has a clear overall arrangement: an opening, a paragraph explaining your recommendation, a paragraph on the benefits of work, job suggestions, and a closing. This makes the main message easy to follow. You also use linking expressions such as “Secondly,” “Moreover,” and “Therefore,” and the progression from reasons to suggestions is logical. To make the organisation more natural and cohesive, avoid relying on a sequence of explicit connectors where the relationship between ideas is already clear. The sentence about promotion and further education, for instance, could be linked more smoothly to the benefits of gaining experience. A clearer transition into the job examples would also help, and the opening sentence could be divided or revised so its ideas connect more cleanly.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use a range of vocabulary relevant to work and education, including “employment,” “communication skills,” “promotion,” and “further education.” These choices help convey your advice, and the reader can understand the main points. However, several word-choice, collocation and spelling problems make the language less natural, such as “regarding your field,” “pay attention on my suggestions,” and “charted acountant.” Some phrases are also broad or repetitive, particularly “various kinds of jobs” and “many more.” Aim for more precise, natural expressions and check spelling carefully. Naming a specific role and explaining its suitability would also let you use vocabulary more flexibly and accurately.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a reason clause in “because you are not interested in college” and a longer sentence beginning “Moreover.” The overall meaning remains understandable, and the letter’s basic sentence structure is generally clear. Some grammatical errors remain, however. For example, “I got your a letter” has an incorrect article, “you can create your interest” has an awkward verb pattern, and “getting promotion can be motivate to you” contains errors in the verb construction. There are also issues with articles and prepositions in phrases such as “get job” and “attention on.” Review article use and verb patterns, then proofread each sentence for agreement and grammatical form.
