Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You address all three requested points and make your recommendation clear: you favour work over college, explain that it could provide income for the friend’s family, and suggest a bakery role based on her baking skills. The specific opening about a pastry-chef vacancy and your offer of a reference make the advice relevant and personal. The explanation of why college would not suit her is less fully developed: “I never liked or enjoyed going to the university” gives your own experience, but does not explain why your friend in particular might dislike college. The job benefits are also stated generally. To strengthen the response further, connect your reasons to her interests or circumstances and add a little support for the practical advantages of working.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The letter has a clear overall arrangement: a friendly opening, a paragraph about college and work, a job suggestion, and a suitable closing. Sequencing words such as “Firstly” and “Lastly” help the reader follow the points, and the bakery example follows naturally from the mention of the friend’s baking. However, the progression is somewhat mechanical, and “On the other side” does not express the contrast as naturally as a more direct transition would. The college and job arguments are combined in one paragraph, so separating these ideas could make the advice easier to follow. Some references, such as “That” and “this,” could also be made more specific. Use transitions selectively and organise each main point into a distinct paragraph.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use enough vocabulary to communicate the main advice and maintain a friendly tone, including relevant terms such as “financially,” “pastries,” “bakery shop,” and “pastry chef.” The job suggestion is specific rather than relying only on general language. However, several spelling errors—“colloge,” “gurantee,” “serching,” and “neef”—and some unnatural word combinations reduce accuracy. For example, “a really good pastries and breads” is not a natural way to describe the friend’s baking, and “take a chance there” is vague in this context. Aim for more precise, natural collocations and proofread spelling carefully. This would make your vocabulary more reliable while preserving the warm, personal style.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
Your letter includes a mix of simple sentences and some longer structures, such as “I know you bake a really good pastries and breads,” and the main message remains understandable. There are, however, some errors in sentence construction and punctuation. In “Don't worry I will help you,” a comma is needed after the introductory phrase; “I can gurantee you that, you will enjoy” has an unnecessary comma before the clause. The sentence “I know you bake a really good pastries and breads” also has a number-agreement problem, while “Contact me if you neef further help” shows an incomplete control of the conditional pattern. Review articles, singular and plural agreement, and punctuation around introductory phrases. More accurate complex sentences would improve control.
