Student answer (Band 5.0)

Dear karan,

I hope you are in the pink of your health. It's been ages since we last met. I really miss you and that time which we spend togetter. I found your letter you are looking for my advice for your better future.

First of all, now a days individuals choose job over college because in college we have more theroy knowlegde but if we go directly for job it will help in our future by getting practical knowledge and after some year we become master in job.

Moreover, in office people are educated and experienced. Futhermore, in my city there is company name The Rising star. They have more than 50 branches all over the world. Most importantly, they guys hire fresher which help you. If you get from here you will also get benefits on airlines and hotels.

I hope you will defininately look for it.

Lots of love,

Rohit

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

You make your preference for employment clear and give a reason: a job can provide practical knowledge, while college offers more theoretical learning. You also mention a possible employer and benefits, so the letter is relevant to the situation. However, the task asks why your friend personally would not enjoy college, and this is not explained; the comparison is general. The job benefits are also only briefly stated, and the suggested suitable job types are missing: naming “The Rising Star” does not identify what role your friend could do. Develop these points with reasons linked to your friend’s interests or strengths, and recommend specific roles to address all parts more fully.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The letter has a recognisable opening, body paragraphs and a friendly closing. Its ideas are grouped broadly by topic, and connectors such as “First of all,” “Moreover” and “Furthermore” help signal progression. However, the sequence within the body is not always clear: the discussion moves from college and practical experience to general comments about office workers, then to a company and its benefits without explaining the links. “I found your letter you are looking for my advice” also makes the opening difficult to follow. Use clearer paragraph purposes and connect each point explicitly—for example, explain how a particular job would suit your friend and why its benefits matter.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use some appropriate informal expressions for a letter to a friend, including “Lots of love,” and attempt less common phrases such as “in the pink of your health” and “practical knowledge.” The vocabulary is sufficient to communicate the general recommendation, but several spelling errors and unnatural word choices reduce precision: “theroy knowlegde,” “Futhermore,” and “defininately” are examples. Some phrases are also unclear or awkward, such as “they guys hire fresher” and “get benefits on airlines and hotels.” Choose more natural collocations and check spelling carefully. More precise vocabulary for job roles and workplace advantages would also help you answer the task more specifically.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You use mostly simple sentence patterns, with some attempts to join ideas using “because,” “if” and “which.” These attempts show a developing range, but sentence control is inconsistent. For example, “I found your letter you are looking for my advice” joins two clauses without a suitable connector, while “after some year we become master in job” has problems with number and sentence structure. Tense and agreement are also uncertain in “that time which we spend” and “they guys hire fresher.” Aim for complete, clearly connected sentences, and check verb forms, articles and singular/plural agreement. More accurate control of these basic patterns would make your meaning easier to follow.
