Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You make your recommendation clear: you think your friend should work, and you give relevant reasons, including earning money and using their cooking and coffee-making skills. You also suggest a café job, so the main direction of the advice is present. However, the task is only partly addressed because you do not clearly explain why your friend would not enjoy college; saying they are “not feeling good at college” repeats the situation rather than developing a reason. The benefits of work and the suitable job are also briefly stated and need more explanation. To strengthen the letter, give a specific reason college may not suit them and explain how café work matches their interests or future plans.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

The response follows a broadly understandable order: you refer to your friend’s situation, recommend work, give a reason, and suggest a café job. However, most of the message is placed in one long paragraph, so the ideas do not progress clearly. Connections such as “moreover,” “because,” and “so” are attempted, but several clauses are joined together without clear boundaries, making the advice difficult to follow. The repeated idea that you would feel happy and proud also interrupts the closing. Use separate paragraphs for your response to the college question, your reasons for recommending work, and job suggestions. Shorter sentences and clearer links between each point would make the letter easier to read.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “semester,” “holidays,” “financial condition,” “cooking skill,” and “profession.” These choices help communicate the general advice, but the range is limited and several spelling or word-choice errors make parts of the letter harder to understand, such as “at this movement,” “aloso,” and “bright your future.” Some phrases are also unnatural, including “find a job on cafe” and “join that.” Aim for more precise, natural expressions for work and study, and check spelling carefully. For example, you could describe improving your finances, gaining experience in a café, or building a future career in hospitality.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt to connect ideas using clauses with “because,” “that is why,” and “if,” showing an effort to write beyond short, simple sentences. However, the range is limited, and complex sentences are often faulty or difficult to follow. Examples include “you was asking you are not feeling good at college” and “you can choose higher study in this proffestion,” where verb forms and sentence structure are not controlled. There are also problems with articles, agreement, and punctuation, as in “job on cafe” and the long sentence beginning “i think so that is good idea.” Practise separating ideas into complete sentences and checking subject–verb agreement, articles, and verb forms.
