Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
You make a clear recommendation to seek work and include reasons and job suggestions, so the main purpose is recognisable. The coding skills and possible software or hardware roles are relevant, as is the idea of helping support the family. However, the first required point is not properly addressed: you ask why your friend would not contribute time at university, but do not explain why they would dislike or be unsuited to college. The advice is also difficult to follow in places, and the job suggestions are named without explaining why those roles suit your friend. Develop each bullet point directly and make your recommendation explicit, for example by explaining that practical work may suit their interests better than academic study. The letter’s purpose is only partially fulfilled because key ideas remain unclear or underdeveloped.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response has a recognisable letter structure, with separate paragraphs for the college issue, the benefits of work, and possible jobs. Connectors such as “Additionally” and “Furthermore” help signal these shifts. However, the overall progression is not consistently clear: the opening combines several ideas, and the college paragraph does not clearly lead to a reason for avoiding university. Some linking phrases are used mechanically, while the long final paragraph moves between coding, company names, hardware, sales, and a vacancy without clear transitions. Improve cohesion by giving each paragraph one focused purpose, ordering the supporting details logically, and using clear references such as “this experience” or “these skills” to show how ideas relate.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
You attempt vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “contribute,” “salary,” “coding,” “software,” and “hardware,” and you offer several specific job possibilities. However, frequent spelling errors and inaccurate or unnatural word choices make parts of the message difficult to understand. Examples include “intreption,” “sellary,” “appropiate,” and “vacency”; phrases such as “contribute our sellary in house support” and “computerline” are also unclear or unnatural. The range is limited, and some expressions do not communicate the intended meaning precisely. Build accuracy with common letter-writing and employment collocations, such as “help support your family,” “earn a salary,” and “apply for a vacancy,” and check spelling carefully before submitting.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt some longer sentences and use basic structures to give reasons and suggestions, but control is uneven. The opening, “hope you got my letter easily,” lacks a clear subject, and “My motive of latter is to guide that make one goal in life” has an incomplete and confusing structure. There are also problems with articles, agreement, and sentence boundaries, as in “you a big group in your college” and the extended final sentence, which joins several ideas without clear punctuation. These errors sometimes make the intended relationships hard to follow. Practise building complete sentences with a subject and verb, then separate related points with full stops or use accurate conjunctions. A wider range of structures will be more effective when basic sentence patterns are controlled.
