Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You identify relevant overall patterns, including nickel’s sharp fall and copper’s comparatively small fluctuations, and you make some useful comparisons near the end. However, the overview is vague: “some remained at bottom” does not clearly summarise the metals’ contrasting movements or their recovery late in the year. Several details are inaccurate or unclear. Nickel peaked at 6% in January, fell to 4% in February and 1% in March, but it did not rise in June; it reached its lowest point, about -3%, then. Copper’s highest monthly change was in January at about 2%, not December, while zinc peaked at about 2% in December. To improve, select the main turning points and report them accurately, especially the mid-year lows and late-year rises.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a basic overall structure: an introduction, an overview and two detail paragraphs. It also attempts to guide the reader with phrases such as “Looking at the details” and “In detail.” However, progression within the paragraphs is difficult to follow because several months and metals are packed into long, loosely connected sentences. The nickel account, for example, moves from January through December without clearly separating the stages, and the final sentence combines copper and zinc comparisons in a confusing way. Some linking words, such as “whereas” and “while,” are used without making the relationships precise. Organise the details into clear comparisons or time periods, and use shorter sentences with explicit references to each metal.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You attempt a range of task-related vocabulary, including “upward trend,” “noticeable decline,” “minor fluctuations” and “peak.” These choices show an effort to describe changes rather than simply list figures. However, word choice and collocation are often inaccurate or repetitive, which sometimes makes the meaning hard to interpret. Phrases such as “prices changed of three metal,” “got big dip,” “fluctuated in daily routeine” and “got high percentage price” are not natural descriptions of a monthly line graph. There are also noticeable spelling errors, including “expereinced,” “januray” and “increaased.” Build a reliable set of verbs and nouns for trends—such as rise, fall, fluctuate, reach a low—and check spelling and word forms.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences with clauses, but the longer structures are often faulty, and errors occur frequently enough to make some relationships difficult to understand. Examples include “This graph illustrates us the information,” “the price of Nickel reached at the peak,” and “in february 2 %and reached to 4%,” where sentence patterns, prepositions and the order of information are not controlled. Agreement and tense are also inconsistent, as in “zinc prices was increaased” and “copper price is decreased.” Capitalisation and punctuation are uneven, with several sentences beginning in lowercase and long clauses joined without clear punctuation. Practise accurate past-tense reporting and build shorter sentences before combining ideas with subordinate clauses.
