Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0
You identify the main extremes: nickel begins at about 6% and reaches the lowest point, around -3%, in June, while copper and zinc are generally less volatile. However, the account is incomplete and some comparisons are inaccurate. Copper does not fall to 3%; it declines to around -0.5% in May and June. Zinc rises to about 3% in February, not at the end, although it finishes near 2%. The overview also says copper was “second highest before zinc,” which is unclear and does not accurately summarise the year. The final sentence is unfinished, and the response is 21 words below the required minimum. Include a complete overview and report the later-year movements to address the task more fully.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
There is some organisation: you provide an introduction, an overview, and then paragraphs describing the metals, with time markers such as “in January,” “during June,” and “At the end.” These help the reader follow parts of the timeline. However, progression is limited because the comparisons are not developed consistently, and the final paragraph stops mid-sentence (“At the end of month they”). Linking phrases such as “By contrast” are repeated, while “Similarly” does not clearly connect the point that follows. Group the data into clear stages—for example, the first half of the year and the recovery near year-end—and complete each comparison so the report has a clear ending.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant chart vocabulary, including “fluctuation,” “peaked,” “gradually,” and “reached,” showing an attempt to describe trends rather than simply list figures. However, several word choices and collocations make the meaning unclear: “proportion” and “amount of sells” do not describe percentage price changes, and “highest record” is unnatural in this context. “Copper lead to second highest” is also difficult to interpret. Spelling errors such as “od” and “constrast” are noticeable. Use precise terms such as “monthly price change,” “percentage,” “rose,” and “fell,” and check spelling and collocations before finishing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt a mixture of simple and more complex sentences, including “After then, there was a slight constant in three months at -1%, after reached to 1%.” However, this sentence has faulty structure: the second “after” clause lacks a subject and finite verb, and the intended sequence is hard to follow. Other errors include “Nickel has highest record” (missing article and awkward tense) and “By contrast copper and Zinc showed” (missing comma after the introductory phrase). The opening sentence is also difficult to parse because of its construction. Aim for clear past-tense sentences with a subject and verb in each clause, and use accurate punctuation when introducing contrasts.
