Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

You identify the main patterns: nickel’s sharp fall to a low in June, copper’s comparatively modest movement, and zinc’s rise early in the year followed by a decline and recovery. The overview also makes useful comparisons between the metals. Several details, however, are unclear or inaccurate. Nickel recovers to about 1% in July, not -1%, and its values are roughly stable near -1% from August to September before changing in October; the sentence about the “last 2 months” does not clearly identify the figures. Zinc ends at about 2% in December, which you report, but its recovery begins in November. More precise reporting of these stages and clearer comparisons would make the account more complete and better supported.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, an overview, and two detail paragraphs. This gives the reader a coherent overall route through the graph, and phrases such as “Overall” and “On the other hand” signal relationships between ideas. However, some connections are difficult to follow because references are vague or the sequence is compressed. For example, “both of figures climbed to -1 and 1” does not make clear which figure belongs to which metal, and “the last 2 months remained reduced” is hard to interpret. The zinc paragraph also moves from its early peak to the final value without clearly explaining the November change. Use clearer grouping and explicit references to each metal and month.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use a reasonable range of trend vocabulary, including “declined,” “reached a peak,” “plateau,” and “climbed,” which helps describe changes rather than simply list figures. Some choices, however, are inaccurate or unnatural for this task: “the cost” is less precise than “price,” “peeaked” is misspelled, and “plateau proportion” does not express the intended idea clearly. There are also several spelling errors, including “recovring,” “februaray,” and “approximetly,” which make the writing less polished. Aim for accurate, conventional collocations and check spelling carefully. More precise terms such as “remained stable” and “recovered” would improve clarity.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt a mix of sentence forms, including a complex overview sentence with “while” and clauses using “before” and “after that.” These structures help show changes over time, but control is inconsistent. For example, “the six first months” has an incorrect word order, and “then both of figures climbed” is missing a determiner. The sentence beginning “Also they showd plateau proportion” is not grammatically complete or clear, while punctuation and spacing are often faulty, as in “Overall, nickel” and the comma splice in “by june , after that climbed.” These errors sometimes make relationships between figures difficult to understand. Practise accurate clause construction and sentence boundaries while retaining your attempts at complex structures.
