Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0

The response successfully identifies the main features of the graph, including the trends for copper, nickel, and zinc. You have provided a clear overview and supported the main points with data from the graph. However, there are some inaccuracies in the reporting of the data, such as stating that nickel showed a 'downward trend' overall when it actually fluctuated significantly, and some descriptions of the figures are slightly imprecise. To reach a higher band, ensure that the data points selected are accurately transcribed and that the summary reflects the overall movement of the lines more precisely.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0

The essay is logically organized into an introduction, an overview, and two body paragraphs. You use cohesive devices such as 'Overall', 'It is clear from the data', and 'Now, turning to the details' to guide the reader. However, the use of cohesive devices is sometimes mechanical or repetitive, and there are instances where the flow between sentences is slightly disjointed due to grammatical errors. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the different metals, which helps the reader follow the information provided.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'fluctuated', 'downward trend', and 'recovered'. However, there are several spelling errors throughout the text, such as 'zince' instead of 'zinc', 'deata' instead of 'data', and 'Jylu' instead of 'July'. These errors are noticeable but do not prevent the reader from understanding the information. To improve, focus on proofreading your work to catch these minor spelling slips and try to incorporate a slightly wider variety of descriptive verbs to avoid repetition.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5

The response uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While you attempt to use complex sentences, there are frequent grammatical errors, such as 'nickel showed downward trend' (missing article), 'It than continued' (incorrect word choice/spelling), and 'reaching sharply rose' (incorrect verb form). These errors occur throughout the text and occasionally cause the reader to pause, though they do not impede overall communication. Increasing your control over verb tenses and article usage will help improve your score in this criterion.
