Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The response covers all parts of the task by identifying the main trends for the three metals. You successfully provided an overview and selected key data points to support your description. However, the analysis of the data is somewhat limited. For instance, the description of Copper is quite brief, and the comparison between the metals could be more explicit. To reach a higher band, ensure you highlight the most significant differences or similarities between the three lines rather than just listing the figures for each metal individually. The overview is clear, but the supporting details could be more analytical to better demonstrate the 'main features' of the graph.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.5
The response is logically organized with a clear introduction, an overview paragraph, and two body paragraphs focusing on the specific data. The use of cohesive devices such as 'Overall,' 'before falling to,' and 'later it surged' helps the reader follow the progression of the data. However, the transitions between sentences are sometimes a bit mechanical. To improve, try to vary the way you link your ideas to create a more natural flow. The paragraphing is appropriate, and the information is presented in a way that is easy to follow throughout the report.
Lexical Resource — Band 7.0
You have used a sufficient range of vocabulary to describe the trends, such as 'decreasing trend,' 'significant fluctuations,' and 'remained relatively stable.' There is an attempt to use less common vocabulary, which is good. However, there are some minor inaccuracies in word choice, such as 'Percentage for Copper' (it should be 'The percentage change for Copper') and 'for last two months' (missing the article 'the'). These errors do not impede communication, but they do prevent the response from reaching a higher band. Expanding your range of synonyms for 'increase' and 'decrease' would further strengthen your writing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 7.0
The response uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While most sentences are clear, there are some grammatical slips, such as 'Changes for Nickel price stood at' (should be 'The change in the price of nickel') and 'remained around 2% by the end with some mild changes' (slightly awkward phrasing). Punctuation is generally accurate, and the errors present do not cause difficulty for the reader. To improve, focus on article usage and ensuring that your subjects and verbs agree consistently. Increasing the variety of complex sentence structures would also help demonstrate better control.
