Student answer (Band 6.5)
The line graph demonstrates the idea regarding the price changing in metals mainly copper, nickel, and zinc in 2014.
Overall, it is noticeable that the average monthly change in the price of nickel was dropping constantly throughout the time period.
Firstly, the line graph illustrates the zinc metal's price change started with 2% in January in 2014, which increased by 3% in February.it was continuously decreasing until June and reached at -1 % then steady similarly until August and after that sudden escalated until December and touched around 2% on wards.
Furthermore, in 2014 6% price change experienced by nickel in beginning of the year.it was dramatically following downward trend until June and staying at ground level of line graph around -3%, then uplifted in July again and had no changes till September. It was slightly going down in October and once again took a peak in December almost 1%.Moreover, copper faced fluctuation with start in January at 2% and end with 1.5% in December in 2014.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
You have successfully identified the main features of the graph, such as the general downward trend for nickel and the fluctuations in zinc and copper. However, the report lacks a clear overview that synthesizes the data effectively. While you mention that nickel dropped constantly, you could have provided a more comprehensive summary of the overall performance of all three metals. Additionally, some data points are described in a way that is slightly confusing, such as 'reached at -1 % then steady similarly until August'. To improve, ensure you clearly distinguish between the starting points, the most significant fluctuations, and the final values for each metal to provide a more structured summary.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The response is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the information. You use some cohesive devices like 'Firstly', 'Furthermore', and 'Moreover' to link ideas. However, the flow within paragraphs is sometimes hindered by mechanical phrasing and repetitive sentence structures. For instance, the transition between describing zinc and nickel is abrupt. To reach a higher band, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and ensure that your referencing (e.g., 'it', 'this') is always clear and unambiguous. Improving the logical progression between sentences will make your writing feel more cohesive and professional.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You have an adequate range of vocabulary to describe the trends, such as 'fluctuation', 'dramatically', and 'downward trend'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'reached at -1 %' (should be 'reached -1%') and 'sudden escalated' (should be 'suddenly escalated'). The use of 'ground level of line graph' is also non-standard. To improve, focus on using more precise verbs and adverbs to describe changes, and ensure that your collocations are natural. Expanding your vocabulary to include more varied ways of describing data movement will help you achieve a higher score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent errors in grammar and punctuation that occasionally impede the flow of reading. For example, there are missing spaces after periods (e.g., 'February.it'), incorrect preposition usage ('reached at'), and issues with tense consistency. Some sentences are also slightly awkward, such as 'the line graph demonstrates the idea regarding the price changing'. To improve, pay closer attention to basic sentence construction, subject-verb agreement, and punctuation. Practicing the use of complex sentences with correct relative clauses or subordinating conjunctions will also help you demonstrate a wider grammatical range.
