Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0
The response attempts to summarize the graph but fails to provide a clear or accurate overview of the data. The description of trends is confusing and often contradictory, making it difficult to follow the actual fluctuations of the three metals. For instance, the statement 'Copper and Zinc average price monthly take rise and down' is vague and lacks specific data points. Key features, such as the peak or trough values for each metal, are not clearly identified or compared. The response lacks the analytical depth required for an Academic Task 1, as it does not effectively highlight the main trends or significant differences between the metals over the year.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.0
The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the internal structure is weak. The use of cohesive devices is minimal and often misused, such as 'In that para phase talk about' or 'In mid years with all down'. These phrases do not create a logical flow between sentences. The progression of ideas is disjointed, and the reader struggles to connect the information provided to the graph. The lack of clear referencing and the repetitive, fragmented nature of the sentences significantly hinder the overall coherence of the report.
Lexical Resource — Band 4.0
The vocabulary is very limited and often inaccurate, which frequently impedes communication. There are numerous errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'take rise and down', 'mantain percentage', and 'final gotten'. The student relies on basic, repetitive language and struggles to use appropriate terminology for describing data trends (e.g., 'rised' instead of 'rose' or 'increased'). The lack of precision in describing numerical changes makes it difficult to understand the intended meaning. A much wider range of vocabulary related to trends and data comparison is needed.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0
The response contains frequent grammatical errors that cause significant strain on the reader. There is a lack of control over basic sentence structures, with many sentences being incomplete or ungrammatical, such as 'Copper and Zinc average price monthly take rise and down both similar percentage with other months'. Verb tense usage is inconsistent, and there is a lack of complex sentence structures. Punctuation is also problematic, with erratic use of periods and capitalization. The high frequency of errors in almost every sentence prevents the demonstration of a wider grammatical range.
