Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.5

The response attempts to summarize the graph but fails to provide a clear or accurate overview. The main features are not effectively highlighted, and the description of the data is often confusing or incorrect, such as stating copper remained 'constant' when the graph shows fluctuations. The attempt to compare the metals is present but lacks clarity due to poor phrasing. To improve, you must focus on identifying the most significant trends (e.g., the peak for nickel in January or the overall volatility of zinc) and describing them with precise data points. The current summary is too vague and contains factual inaccuracies regarding the trends shown in the chart.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is divided into paragraphs, but the logical flow is severely hindered by awkward phrasing and a lack of cohesive devices. Transitions between sentences are often missing or misused, such as the repetitive use of 'and later on' or 'as in'. The referencing is unclear, making it difficult for the reader to follow the comparison between the three metals. To improve, use a wider variety of linking words (e.g., 'in contrast', 'subsequently', 'meanwhile') and ensure that each paragraph has a clear focus. The current structure feels mechanical and does not facilitate a smooth progression of ideas.

Lexical Resource — Band 4.5

The vocabulary is limited and often inappropriate for an academic report. There are frequent errors in word choice, such as 'High propagation' to describe price changes, which is not the correct terminology. Other errors include 'stating State' and 'pieces' instead of 'prices'. The range of vocabulary is insufficient to describe trends accurately, relying on repetitive and basic structures. To reach a higher band, you should learn specific collocations for describing data, such as 'fluctuated', 'remained stable', 'peaked at', or 'experienced a downward trend'. Improving your precision will significantly enhance the quality of your writing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.5

The response contains frequent grammatical errors that often impede communication. There are issues with subject-verb agreement, incorrect preposition usage, and sentence fragments. For example, 'The line chart illustrates average change in monthly in pieces' is grammatically incorrect. Many sentences are poorly constructed, making the intended meaning unclear. There is a lack of complex sentence structures, and the simple sentences used are often flawed. To improve, focus on basic sentence construction, ensuring every sentence has a clear subject and verb, and practice using articles and prepositions correctly. Consistent proofreading for basic errors is essential.
