Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0

The response attempts to describe the trends, but it fails to provide a clear overview or highlight the most significant features. The description of the data is often inaccurate; for example, the student claims nickel started at 60%, which is not supported by the graph. Furthermore, the analysis is fragmented and lacks a logical summary of the main trends. The attempt to compare the metals is weak, as the conclusion that their averages are the same is not clearly derived from the data provided. To improve, focus on identifying the starting and ending points, the most significant fluctuations, and the overall trajectory of each metal.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.0

The response lacks a clear structure. There is no paragraphing, and the sentences are linked in a very mechanical and often confusing way. The use of cohesive devices is minimal and frequently misused, such as 'where as' and 'other hand', which do not effectively connect ideas. The progression of information is difficult to follow because the description jumps between metals without a clear logical flow. To improve, you should organize your report into distinct paragraphs: an introduction, an overview, and two body paragraphs focusing on specific trends and comparisons.

Lexical Resource — Band 4.0

The vocabulary is very limited and repetitive. There are frequent spelling errors, such as 'averge', 'doted', 'axs', 'alaborate', 'thwe', 'graduly', 'contuinue', 'salit', 'straght', 'negitive', and 'campare'. These errors, combined with the misuse of words like 'collect' and 'collection' to describe price trends, make the text difficult to read. The range of vocabulary is insufficient to describe trends accurately (e.g., using 'littler grows' instead of 'a slight increase'). You need to learn and correctly use specific vocabulary for describing graphs, such as 'fluctuate', 'decline', 'peak', and 'plateau'.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0

The response contains frequent grammatical errors that impede communication. There are consistent issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'The graph illustrate', 'line represent'), incorrect verb tenses, and missing articles. Sentence structure is often fragmented or run-on, making it hard to identify the intended meaning. Punctuation is also problematic, with many missing spaces after periods and commas. To improve, focus on basic sentence construction, ensuring every sentence has a clear subject and verb, and practice proofreading for common errors like missing articles and incorrect verb forms.
