Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, which significantly impacts the task achievement score. Furthermore, the content is incomplete; while it mentions copper and nickel, it entirely ignores zinc, which is a key component of the graph. The overview is missing, and the description of trends is overly simplistic and lacks the necessary comparative analysis required for an Academic Task 1 response. To improve, you must ensure all data points are addressed, include a clear summary of the main trends, and meet the minimum length requirement to allow for a full development of the data.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The response lacks a clear structure. There is no introduction beyond the first sentence, and the paragraphing is ineffective, with the entire analysis crammed into two short, poorly connected paragraphs. Cohesive devices are largely absent, making the flow of information feel disjointed. For example, the transition between the description of copper and nickel is abrupt. To improve, use clear paragraph breaks (Introduction, Overview, and Body Paragraphs) and incorporate linking words such as 'in contrast,' 'meanwhile,' or 'subsequently' to guide the reader through the data logically.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is quite limited and repetitive. You rely on basic verbs like 'started,' 'reached,' and 'grew.' There are also issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'constituted at nearly 2%' and 'followed by its plummeted,' which are grammatically incorrect and unnatural. To reach a higher band, you should use a wider range of vocabulary to describe trends, such as 'fluctuated,' 'remained stable,' or 'experienced a sharp decline.' Focus on using precise terminology for data reporting rather than informal or inaccurate phrasing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include 'its grew again' (should be 'it grew'), 'its plummeted' (should be 'a plummet' or 'it plummeted'), and 'from june month' (should be 'from June'). The sentence structures are simple and lack the variety required for higher bands. You should practice using complex sentence structures, such as relative clauses or subordinating conjunctions, and pay closer attention to subject-verb agreement and the correct use of pronouns.
