Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, which significantly impacts the score. Because the text is only 95 words long, the information is severely underdeveloped. While you attempt to identify some trends, the summary is incomplete and lacks a comprehensive overview of the data. Several months and key features are omitted, and the description of the trends is fragmented. To improve, you must ensure all parts of the prompt are addressed, including a clear overview and detailed comparisons of the three metals throughout the entire year, while meeting the minimum length requirement.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The response lacks a clear logical progression. While there is an attempt at an 'Overall' statement, the transition between ideas is abrupt and mechanical. The use of cohesive devices is limited and sometimes inaccurate, such as the repetitive use of 'and then' to link sentences. Paragraphing is not effectively utilized to separate the introduction from the body of the report. To improve, focus on using a wider range of linking words (e.g., 'in contrast', 'subsequently', 'meanwhile') and organize your information into distinct paragraphs for better readability and logical flow.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is quite limited and repetitive. You rely on basic terms like 'amount' and 'increase/decrease' throughout the text. There are also inaccuracies in word choice, such as 'sight decreased' (likely meaning 'slightly') and 'on the peaked'. The lack of variety in describing trends prevents a more precise analysis of the graph. To reach a higher band, you should incorporate more specific vocabulary related to data trends, such as 'fluctuated', 'remained stable', 'a marginal decline', or 'a significant surge', and ensure correct word forms are used.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include 'Nickel's price is decline' (should be 'is declining' or 'declined'), 'in Zinc first amount is increased' (awkward phrasing and missing articles), and 'plus four' (informal). The sentence structures are mostly simple, and there is a lack of complex sentence forms. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with missing full stops in some areas. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement, correct tense usage for describing past data, and incorporating a mix of complex sentence structures to demonstrate grammatical control.
