Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response attempts to summarize the graph but fails to provide a clear overview or accurately report the main features. The data description is often confusing; for instance, the claim that zinc increased by 2% from February is not clearly supported by the visual data, and the description of nickel's fluctuations is imprecise. The response also contains factual errors regarding the year (2017 vs 2014) and lacks a cohesive summary of the trends. To improve, focus on identifying the starting points, the most significant peaks and troughs, and the final values, while ensuring the data is accurately transcribed from the graph.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the logical progression is weak. The use of cohesive devices is mechanical and sometimes inaccurate, such as the repetitive use of 'After that' and 'Then'. The referencing is occasionally unclear, making it difficult for the reader to follow the comparison between the three metals. Paragraphing is present, but the internal structure of the paragraphs lacks a clear flow of information. Improving the use of linking words (e.g., 'consequently', 'in contrast', 'subsequently') would help create a more professional and readable structure.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is limited and repetitive. There are frequent spelling errors, such as 'flacuation' (fluctuation), 'nickle' (nickel), and 'incresing' (increasing). The range of vocabulary is insufficient to describe trends effectively; for example, using 'small up-down trends' is imprecise. To reach a higher band, you should learn and use specific collocations for describing graphs, such as 'fluctuated significantly', 'remained stable', or 'experienced a downward trend'. Expanding your range of descriptive adjectives and adverbs will also help you convey information with greater precision.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. There are issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'This line graph illustrate', 'All three graph shows') and incorrect tense usage. Sentence structures are generally simple, and attempts at more complex sentences often result in errors. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with the use of commas and capitalization. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, ensuring that verbs agree with their subjects, and proofreading for common errors like missing articles or incorrect verb forms.
