Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response covers the main features of the graph, identifying the trends for zinc and nickel. However, the report is incomplete as it fails to mention copper entirely, which is a key component of the prompt. The overview is present but lacks clarity due to grammatical issues. While the data points are generally accurate, the lack of comparison between the three metals and the omission of one category limits the development of the response. To improve, ensure all data sets provided in the prompt are addressed and compared, and focus on highlighting the most significant trends rather than listing every minor fluctuation.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate, such as 'To commence with' and 'However'. The progression of ideas is sometimes hindered by awkward phrasing and unclear referencing, particularly in the second paragraph where the transition between months is disjointed. The logical flow is present but requires more sophisticated linking words to connect the data points more fluidly. Improving the variety and accuracy of transition signals will help the reader navigate the information more effectively.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is somewhat limited and repetitive, relying on basic terms like 'changes', 'increase', and 'stable'. There are several instances of inaccurate word choice and collocation, such as 'price ratio' instead of 'price change' or 'percentage'. Spelling errors, such as 'Inital', 'noticebal', and 'ti', also detract from the quality of the writing. While the meaning is generally clear, the range of vocabulary is not sufficient to demonstrate the precision required for higher bands. Expanding your repertoire to include more specific analytical terms would significantly enhance your score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains frequent grammatical errors, including issues with subject-verb agreement ('nickel price it was', 'ratio was remain'), missing articles, and incorrect sentence structure. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with erratic spacing and capitalization. While there is an attempt to use complex sentences, these are often faulty and contain errors that occasionally impede the reader's understanding. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, ensuring correct verb tenses, and proofreading for common errors like missing articles and incorrect prepositions before moving on to more complex structures.
