Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 3.0
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, which significantly impacts the task achievement. Furthermore, the content is underdeveloped and lacks a clear summary of the main features. The description of the data is fragmented and confusing, with abbreviations like 'j to j' and 'm' that are not explained, making it impossible for the reader to follow the trends. The response does not adequately compare the three metals or provide a coherent overview of the data presented in the graph. To improve, you must ensure you meet the length requirement and provide a clear, structured analysis of the key trends and comparisons.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.0
The essay lacks logical organization and progression. The paragraphing is ineffective, and the sentences are disjointed, making it difficult to follow the flow of information. There is a lack of cohesive devices to link ideas, and the referencing is unclear. The use of punctuation is erratic, which further disrupts the coherence of the text. To improve, you should focus on using clear topic sentences for each paragraph and employing linking words (e.g., 'however', 'in contrast', 'subsequently') to connect your points logically. The current structure is too fragmented to support a coherent argument or description.
Lexical Resource — Band 4.0
The vocabulary is very limited and repetitive. There are frequent errors in word choice and spelling, such as 'nickle' instead of 'nickel' and 'inclined' used incorrectly to describe price movements. The use of abbreviations like 'j' and 'd' is inappropriate for an academic task. The range of vocabulary is insufficient to convey precise information about the graph. To improve, you should learn specific terminology for describing trends, such as 'fluctuate', 'decline', 'increase', 'peak', and 'plateau', and ensure you use them accurately in context.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0
The response contains frequent grammatical errors that impede communication. There are issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'the three elements was fluctuate'), incorrect verb tenses, and sentence fragments. The sentence structures are simple and often lack proper punctuation, making the text difficult to read. There is no evidence of complex sentence structures. To improve, you should focus on mastering basic sentence construction, ensuring subject-verb agreement, and using correct verb tenses when describing past data. Proofreading for basic errors is essential to improve your score.
