Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses the task by identifying the three metals and describing their trends. However, the analysis is superficial and lacks precision. For instance, the description of copper as 'almost same' is vague, and the report fails to mention specific data points or units (e.g., percentages or currency) provided in the graph. The overview is repetitive and does not clearly highlight the most significant trends, such as the overall decline of nickel compared to the relative stability of copper. To improve, you should focus on selecting key features and providing specific comparisons rather than just listing observations.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the flow of ideas is often disjointed. While some cohesive devices like 'To begin with' and 'On the other hand' are used, they are sometimes applied mechanically or inappropriately. The transition between the introduction and the body paragraphs is weak, and the overall progression of information feels repetitive. The referencing is occasionally unclear, such as the phrase 'which is only for the short period', which lacks a clear antecedent. Improving the logical connection between sentences would significantly enhance the readability of your report.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is limited and often repetitive. Phrases like 'far high', 'tiny fluctuation', and 'boost in zinc price' are imprecise and lack the academic tone required for Task 1. There are also issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'initial of the year' instead of 'beginning of the year' and 'tenure' used incorrectly to describe a time frame. To achieve a higher band, you should incorporate more precise vocabulary related to describing trends, such as 'fluctuated', 'remained stable', 'experienced a sharp decline', or 'reached a peak'.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but grammatical errors are frequent and occasionally impede clarity. Examples include 'This information displays in dissimilar line styles' (passive voice needed) and 'its prices falls' (subject-verb agreement error). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with the placement of commas and the use of capital letters in the middle of sentences. While the meaning is generally understandable, the high frequency of errors in basic grammar and sentence construction limits the score in this criterion.
