Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response attempts to summarise the graph but fails to provide a clear or accurate overview. The description of the trends is often confusing and inaccurate; for example, stating that nickel 'reached consistently in end nearly by 1%' is vague, and the description of zinc's movement is difficult to follow. While the response identifies the three metals, it lacks a clear comparison of the main features. The data points mentioned are often imprecise or incorrectly interpreted, which hinders the reader's ability to understand the graph's information. To improve, focus on identifying the most significant peaks, troughs, and overall trends rather than listing every minor movement.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is divided into paragraphs, but the logical progression is weak. The use of cohesive devices is limited and often mechanical or misused, such as 'in first' and 'after Jun'. The transition between ideas is disjointed, making the overall flow difficult to follow. Referencing is also problematic; for instance, the use of 'that is' and 'the coper' lacks clarity. To improve, use a wider range of linking words (e.g., 'subsequently', 'in contrast', 'meanwhile') and ensure that each paragraph has a clear, singular focus that connects logically to the next.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is limited and repetitive, with frequent errors in word choice and collocation. Phrases like 'proportion charging in price' and 'more low' are non-standard and impede clarity. There are also issues with spelling and word formation, such as 'Aghuest' and 'septamber'. The range of vocabulary is insufficient to describe trends accurately, relying on basic verbs like 'grew' or 'decline' without the necessary precision for a data-analysis task. Expanding your vocabulary to include trend-specific terminology (e.g., 'fluctuated', 'plummeted', 'stabilised') is essential for a higher score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains frequent grammatical errors that often obscure meaning. There are consistent issues with verb tense, subject-verb agreement, and article usage (e.g., 'the nickel was start', 'the coper was fluctuated'). Sentence structures are simple and often lack proper punctuation, which makes the text feel fragmented. There is very little evidence of complex sentence structures, and when attempted, they are usually inaccurate. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, specifically ensuring that subjects and verbs agree and that tenses are used consistently throughout the report.
