Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, which significantly impacts the score. Because the text is only 107 words, the analysis is incomplete and lacks the necessary detail to fully cover the task. While you have identified some key features, such as the starting and ending points for Nickel and Zinc, the description is fragmented and stops abruptly. To improve, you must ensure you provide a comprehensive overview and describe all three metals throughout the entire period, rather than leaving the report unfinished. The lack of a full summary of the data prevents the response from reaching a higher band.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay lacks a clear structure. While there is an attempt at an introduction and a body paragraph, the text is too short to demonstrate effective paragraphing or logical progression. The use of cohesive devices is very limited; for example, you use 'To begin with' and 'further more', but these are not sufficient to connect the ideas smoothly. The abrupt ending of the text further disrupts the flow of information. To improve, focus on organizing your report into clear paragraphs: an introduction, an overview of the main trends, and two body paragraphs detailing the specific data points.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is quite basic and repetitive. You frequently use the word 'highest' and 'lowest' without much variation. There are also spelling errors, such as 'Nickle' (Nickel) and 'spam' (span). The phrasing is often unnatural, such as 'highest of all time in starting'. To reach a higher band, you should aim to use a wider range of vocabulary to describe trends, such as 'fluctuated', 'peaked', 'declined', or 'remained stable'. Additionally, ensure you proofread for basic spelling and word choice errors to ensure your meaning is clear.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains several grammatical errors that affect clarity. There are issues with subject-verb agreement, such as 'The line graph illustrate' (should be 'illustrates') and 'all end up closes' (should be 'close'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with missing commas and periods. The sentence structures are mostly simple, and there is little evidence of complex sentence construction. To improve, focus on mastering basic subject-verb agreement and using a variety of sentence structures, such as using subordinating conjunctions (e.g., 'while', 'although', 'whereas') to combine ideas more effectively.
