Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
The response fails to meet the minimum word count of 150 words, stopping abruptly at 101 words. While it attempts to summarise the main features of the line graph regarding copper, nickel, and zinc prices in 2014, the information is only partially presented and remains heavily under-developed. The overview attempts to capture general trends, but the abrupt termination of the text prevents a full reporting of the data, resulting in a minimal response that lacks adequate coverage of the visual information.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
There is some basic organisation attempted through introductory and transitional phrases such as 'Overall' and 'In addtion', but the text lacks a clear overall progression. Paragraphing is disjointed, and the response cuts off mid-sentence, preventing logical flow. Cohesive devices are used mechanically and sometimes inaccurately, such as referencing errors and repetitive transitional patterns, which limits the overall readability and cohesion of the writing.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is limited and repetitive, featuring basic terms alongside frequent spelling and word-choice errors, such as 'matals', 'occured', 'descrided', 'monthes', 'recoarded', 'secound', 'flactuations', and 'aroung'. While the lexical resource is minimally adequate to touch upon the topic, these noticeable errors in spelling and collocation occasionally cause difficulty for the reader and prevent the use of a wider or more precise range of vocabulary.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
The grammar demonstrates a very limited range of structures, relying on simple sentence forms where attempts at more complex constructions are faulty. There are frequent errors in articles, prepositions, verb forms, and punctuation, such as 'the three different matals, with change occured', 'The data of price is descrided', and 'Nickel is recoarded to be highest, But by the end of year it fall down'. These errors are frequent and often cause difficulty for the reader.
