Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

You identify all three metals and report some broad movements, including nickel’s high starting point and zinc’s rise towards December. However, the account is only partially accurate and the main comparisons are not clearly selected. For example, copper did not fall continuously for half the year: it declined to around zero, dipped slightly below zero in May and June, then recovered. Nickel fell sharply to about −3% in June before ending near 1%, rather than simply declining every month. The overview also says copper and nickel decreased while zinc increased, which misses their late-year recoveries and the metals’ shared mid-year downturn. Focus on the overall pattern and key turning points, using accurate comparisons rather than repeating general statements about monthly change.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response has a basic paragraph structure, moving from an introduction to a longer account and a concluding statement. It also attempts to sequence information with phrases such as “the first metal,” “the second metal,” and “at last.” However, progression is weakened by repeated introductions and general statements: the first paragraph repeats that prices changed each month, and the next begins again with “The graph illustrate.” Connections between details are sometimes unclear, particularly “after three year had equal ratio from september,” which makes the timeline difficult to follow. Group the overview and key trends more purposefully, then use clear time markers such as “from January to June” and “in the final two months.” This would make the organisation easier to follow.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

You use relevant basic terms such as “prices,” “increased,” “decreased,” and “average,” so the reader can recognise the topic and some trends. However, vocabulary is repetitive and several word choices or collocations make the meaning unclear. “Different percentage in every month” and “different ratio” are imprecise for describing monthly price changes, while “copper was fell down” and “reached its original value” do not express the intended trends naturally. There are also spelling errors, including “nickle,” “janurary,” and “yaer.” Build a more precise set of chart-description phrases, such as “percentage change,” “fell to,” “recovered,” and “remained stable,” and check spelling carefully.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The response attempts to describe changes over time and uses some longer sentences, but grammatical control is weak and errors frequently affect clarity. Subject–verb agreement is inconsistent in “The graph illustrate,” and verb forms are faulty in “copper was fell down” and “the average … continuely fell down.” Articles and sentence construction are also problematic, as in “started the average of 1” and “after one month the average of copper slightly increased.” Most sentences rely on simple patterns, with limited accurate use of complex clauses. Practise forming clear past-tense sentences with a subject and verb—for example, “Copper fell to around −0.5% in May”—and use linking clauses only when their grammar is secure.
