Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
You identify the three metals and include some relevant figures, such as nickel’s peak of 6% in January and the metals’ values in February. However, the response does not provide a clear, accurate overview of the main patterns: saying prices showed “the lowest trend” is unclear, and the account ends before describing the later months. Some comparisons are also difficult to interpret. For example, the March and April figures are presented in a confusing sequence, and the May/July description mixes months and values; nickel fell to about -3% in June, not July. To strengthen the report, summarise the broad pattern first, then accurately compare the major rises, falls and recoveries across the year.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
There is an attempt to organise the report into an introduction, an overview and two detail paragraphs, and phrases such as “Overall,” “To begin with” and “Furthermore” signal stages in the response. However, the progression is difficult to follow because the data are grouped and compared unclearly. The sentence beginning “Moreover” strings together several months and figures without making their relationships clear, while “the May and the July” followed by “former” and “latter” makes the timeline confusing. The final sentence is unfinished, so the report does not reach a complete conclusion to its description. Use one paragraph for the overview and organise details chronologically or by shared trends, with each sentence clearly identifying its month and metal.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
The response uses some task-related vocabulary, including “line graph,” “proportion,” “highest,” “lowest” and “rose,” so the reader can recognise the intended subject. However, vocabulary is often inaccurate or repetitive, and several spelling errors make the data harder to understand: “flactuating,” “propotion,” “presentages” and “dicrease.” Some expressions are also unnatural for this task, such as “medium monthly change in its costs” and “the proportion of price.” Prefer precise terms such as “monthly percentage change” and “price,” and use verbs like “fell,” “remained stable” and “recovered” to describe the lines. Check spelling and avoid using “figure” repeatedly when a metal or month can be named directly.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
You attempt both simple and more extended sentences, including a contrast with “whereas” and an overview introduced by “Overall.” However, frequent errors in sentence construction and punctuation make several comparisons difficult to decode. For example, “the proportion of price was flactuating in all year” has faulty article and preposition patterns, while “in the March and the April this figure was reached on…” does not form a clear grammatical clause. There are also agreement and verb-form problems in “the data … was continuesly dicrease,” and the final sentence, “Furthermore this figure rose in,” is incomplete. Build shorter, complete sentences first, checking articles, verb forms and subject–verb agreement; then add comparisons using clear clauses.
